ALso have the same problem, my wife has a polo and will not start when the engine is warm (ie stopping for fuel), it will then not start for about 15 minutes until cold again. I have changed the starter and ran it on diagnostics and it says that the it has two intermittant problems; the collant sensor and the rpm sensor.....

    Anyone any ideas?

I HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM!!! OK.. SO FINALLY AFTER A MONTH OF TRIAL AN ERROR.. I REPLACED THE COOLANT TEMP. SENSOR AND SERIOUSLY.. ALLLLL THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY AND MY SYMPTOMS WERE IDENTICAL TO ALL 3 OF THE PEOPLE REPORTING THIS SAME PROB. ITS A $7.00 PART SO GRAB IT AND CHANGE IT.. IT IS VERY EASY TO SWITCH OUT AND I BET YOUR CAR RUNS AWESOME AGAIN :) GOODLUCK!! -MANDEY

NO CLICKING WHEN TURNING IT OVER LOOKS LIKE A FUSE A LARGER SQUARE FUSE IS MISSING, ALL THE SMALL FUSES ARE GOOD, THE ( ! ) EXCALMATION LIGHT BLINKS WHEN TURNING ON THE IGNATION BUT IT DID THIS BEFORE THE STARTING PROBLEM, THE ENGINE LIGHT IS BLINKING BUT IT WAS BEFORE TOO

IS IT A FUSE MISSING ISSUE OR SOLENOID ISSUE ?

I had a similar problem where the car would lose revs and cut out while running (esp. when I was slowing into a corner).

I took it to VW and they put it on the computer. The Airflow meter needed replacing. Since then I've had no more problems with this.

Hi there, I have a VW Golf GTI 2000 model.. and...

You'll probaly need a new speedo head. Just remember to record your original mileage to the new speedo you'll need to hook up a VAG 1552 scan tool and set it up. NOTE: It has to be below 100mi or else it will permanently lock up and unable to record your original mileage.

I have a vw golf gti. P reg 1996. recently it has

Hi Frank
If as you say....Nothing is happening at all when you turn the key, you appear to have one of two problems. A faulty starter motor--or--- A faulty ignition switch. If you can tap the starter motor while another person keeps the key turned to the start position, and the engine now starts you now know it is a starter problem. When doing this PLEASE MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF GEAR.
If it should start up, or even engage the starter motor while IN GEAR, serious injuries could happen, and I do not mean to your car.
Good luck
John

Serious electrical problems wiv vw golf mk4 gti turbo yr 2000

I had a VW rabbit that developed mad electrical problems. It started when one day the headlights remained on and would not shut off. It turned out that a $2.00 gasket for the antenna wire had failed. This allowed road water from the wheel well to leak onto the fuse box. In time the fuse panel corroded and shorted out. I had to replace the fuse box twice and use rubber epoxy to seal the leak.
Check all fuses and electrical wiring for signs of shorts or corrosion.

VW Golf MK3 wont start

fuel relay could be faulty. i think its number 30 or 167 in the fuse box under the driver side steering. it could also be the fuel pump or connector on the fuel pump under the black metal plate under your trunk carpet. you could try manually throwing in fuel into the intake to make sure its not your car's ecu or ignition system. if it starts and stays running it could be what took me a few months to discover after i had intermittent problems. there a small vacuum hose from the fifth injector on a 1997 mk3 gti (4 cylinder) that connects to the injector rail. i think its some kind of activation for the electronic injectors. my pipe was broken and i just cut it and my car hasnt been better since! i know this is an old question but i hope it helps someone out there!
