Question about Chrysler New Yorker

2 Answers

1994 Chrysler New Yorker, 3.5 v-6 has a starting problem. Always starts when cold. May not start when warmed up. Starter cranks good. Also sometimes dies out sitting at red lights and won't start for a few minutes. Sometimes won't start and if you give it 1/2 to full gas pedal, it will? Shop changed air filter, gas filter and did Induction system cleaning and I still have problem? Thanks

This could be due to a weak fuel pump, or a bad throtle positioning sensor. Check the fuel pressure after the engine has warmed up.

Is it carburetor or injection?

Generally there are several common causes why the car does not start when hot.
It can be a clogged air filter. Also, if vehicle has a MAF
sensor in the (inside air intake ducting) this may be dirty. Check the air filter and eventually replace it.
It can be fuel not reaching injectors or carburetor. Check the fuel filter and the fuel
    pressure with a gauge.

Also corroded battery connections, particularly the ground side, can cause this same problem.
Faulty injectors or bad carburetors setting and problem with spark plugs may also cause the car not to start when engine is hot.
Replace air filter, check fuel filter and spark plug, if you cannot fix it in this simple way it is better to take the car to a mechanic.

My 1995 chrysler new yorker wont start. i turn key and get nothing. battery is charged and starter does not crank.

If the dash lights up, but no crank, it could be the anti-theft system, or the neutral safety switch, among other things.
Have you tried cranking it in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter post ?
Does everything else work when you turn the key on ?

I have a 91 Chrysler New Yorker and when it's cold out it doesnt want to start. What can I do to get it to start?

Take it to a local mechanic and get them to have a look for you as it sounds like the autochoke cold start temperature sensor could be defective

Wont start , checked battery and its good. Before the problem it turned hard , altinator reley clicks no turn of engine . Is it the starter ?

Just because the battery says 12 volts doesn't mean its good,, It need the right amount of amps to crank the vehicle, while 12 volts will give the impression that your battery is good. will it jump start? if so you have a bad battery ,, One cell could be enough to drop the amps you need, I've seen new batteries do the same thing, Have it LOAD checked, to make sure that the battery will preform as needed with the correct amps.

When it is real cold in the mornig it won'tstart, but when the day warms up it starts fine

It could be a lot of things combined like an improperly ajusted choke to a battery with to low of cold cranking amps. However it may save you a lot of greaf and money in the long run to simply plug your car in on thoes long and cold winter nights.good luck.

Just changed the timing belt. Engine started great when it was still torn apart. Ran smooth. Put it all back together, and now it won't start. rechecked timing, spot on. Has fuel but no spark. Checked all...

Check to see if the crank sensor is plugged in or the wiring is broken. Check to see if the reluctor wheel that the crank sensor reads is there and in good shape.
