Question about 1998 Mazda 626
I noticed about 2 weeks ago that when driving for 1hr or so my Speedomoter would stop working and just sit at 0 Mph shortly after the OD light starts flashing on and off. Everyone know and then it does an unusual shift and i drop to a lower gear for no reason. Lately its been failing more often and the speedometer stops working after 30 mins. My sisters boyfriend said it had to do with the gear in the transmission that tells the computer the speed and its failing and as a result OD is failing and the computer cant tell when to correctly shift. If this is the answer were would go to a mazda dealership or any garage. My friend owns one and if its not that hard of a fix could we possibly replace it. Any help would be appreciated
I have the same car and i dident get it looked at and i had to change the transmission.the transmission cooler in the car is too small get it changed because your tranny is overheating.

I had this problem a few years ago. Get it checked out right away. I didn't and I ended up having to replace my transmission.
