Question about 1999 GMC Sierra

Volkswagen Golf, 2003, auto transmission solenoid location

I am having trouble with my VW auto transmission. It is at a trans shop now and they said the codes require testing the solenoids and that they are internal, having to remove the pan to check. It this correct. The trans codes say that 2nd and 4th are not working. Please help.

Solenoids are starter relays, i don't know how that will be related to the transmission issue, their diagnosis might be a little off, so please get it doublecheck.

miller sorry about that i did not check on VW tranny, i based my last answer on a honda.

i checked more with someone online with golf AT and yes, the regulator that controls the fluid flow on the auto tranny may be calibrated or synced with the tranny controller / computer.

    my apologies once again

How do I replace drivers side rear electric window in a VW golf 1.6 match 2003

Get a window from a junkyard or craigslist, take it to an auto glass shop and pay them $50 to install it. If you are talking about a regulator, then buy a new regulator on ebay, and again take it to an auto glass shop and have them install ir for you for about $50.00.

If it's manual trans you need to depress the clutch to disengage the safety switch. With auto trans it either needs to be in P or N releasing the safety feature. Anything beyond that needs to be hooked up to a VAG 1551/1552 scan tool. This will read the ECM for trouble fault codes stored in memory. This also serves as navigation guide hunting the malfunction that is causing the no start of your vehicle.

We buy a 97 vw golf today

The transmission shift solenoid must be replaced. It is located on transmission, but to replace it you will need to lift the car. The part is not expensive, ask to your mechanic a quote for repair.

Vw automatic trans won't shift

The 01M and 09A automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick and procedure requires measuring and maintaining a specified ATF temperature (which is neither cold or hot, but in between) during the ATF level checking. Special Volkswagen tools are required for this operation and it is therefore recommended that ATF level checking on 01M/09A transmissions be left to an authorized VW dealer.
