If it's a 2.2L 4 cylinder with automatic & air conditioning, and the problem is most common when your A/C is on, it's normal because you only have a 130 hp engine. The A/C really soaks up the power. I've lost most drag races with mine even with 18 wheelers.

    On second thought, what do you mean by no power. Do you mean you turn
    the ignition key and the starter doesn't turn over? It could be your
    starter relay located in the fuse block under the hood. It's a little
    cube device.

What size replacement fusible link should be used ?
The automotive service industry recommends using the same gauge and length as the blown fusible link after the cause of failure is corrected.
guide lines,
A 14-gauge wire would be protected by an 18-gauge fusible link. A 6-gauge wire would be protected by a 10-gauge link, and so on. Odd number wire gauge sizes like 19, 15, 13 and 11 are counted when sizing a link. The length of a fusible link should not exceed 9".

my jeep FSM shows it as 10 gage harness size. (M1/M2 gen slot)
so, 8 gauge thermal link is my guess. per SAE.
why not go to jeep and buy it?

Check fuses, check light switch and relays. This sounds like a no power issue so check fuses first. The light switch turns on or activatves relays which the power or voltabe to the lights .

I suspect that by jumping the dead battery, you inadvertently burned out a fusible link (not a mini-fuse) located on the under-hood fuse panel. Go to this URL: http://www.newtonnet.co.uk/coupe/service/webtech/iindex.asp@id=394881127#_394881127

There is a 100A fusible link (Item A on the diagram) that protects all systems. If it blows, you'll still have battery voltage, but no power will be seen anywhere else. Change the fusible link, and you should be able to close the sunroof :-)

I am not getting a signal to my fuel pump, fuel pump relay nor the 10 amp fuel pump relay fuse. I have checked my wiring from the ECM to the FPR and it is good. Where does the power come from through the...


The fuel pump relay is powered by a fusible link connected to the starter solenoid on the positive battery terminal. That fusible link feeds the 10 amp fuse near the relay. You can test the fusible links with a 12 volt test lamp. If the fusible link test okay check for an open circuit in the wire between the link and the 10 amp fuse. Hope this gets you fixed.

Usually the power feed to the headlight switch isn't fused. It will come from a fusible link under the hood. On the right side of the firewall there is a black plastic cover, under it are the fusible links. Check here for a possible blown one. I would also suspect the headlight switch may have originally caused it to blow if thats the case. If you have already replaced the headlight switch, replacing the fusible link should repair the lights. Make sure you replace the fusible link with the same gage wire and same length.

Make sure you have pwr to the starter. There may be a fusible link in the starter circuit which is blown. Starter selinoid may be defective. Is there any 'clicking' like the starter selinoid is getting any power?

Fusible Links

The engine compartment wiring harness has several fusible links. The same size wire with a special hypalon insulation must be used when replacing a fusible link.
The links are located in the following areas:
  1. A molded splice at the starter solenoid Bat terminal, a 14 gauge red wire.
  2. A 16 gauge red fusible link at the junction block to protect the unfused wiring of 12 gauge or larger wire. This link stops at the bulkhead connector.
  3. The alternator warning light and field circuitry is protected by a 20 gauge red wire fusible link used in the battery feed to voltage regular #3 terminal. The link is installed as a molded splice in the circuit at the junction block.
  4. The ammeter circuit is protected by two 20 gauge fusible links installed as molded splices in the circuit at the junction block and battery to starter circuit.
Other things it MIGHT be are the ignition switch, located on top of the steering column:

The other thing it MIGHT be is a faulty ignition cylinder (where your key goes into to start the K10).

Check the wire harness on the steering column also.
