Question about 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab

1 Answer

2000 Dakota quad 4.7 v8

My truck started to buck then stall. Changed both Oxy sensors and ran good for a week. I have changed all sensors and spark plugs and they are fouled up in under a week. It is running extremely rich (120 miles per tank of gas). Any other suggestions

I changed spark plugs and 1 coil on 4.7 2004 dakota. now i have a idle speed of about 2000 rpm

sounds like the idle speed motor is bad, rather then paying big bucks for one. see if you can find one at a junk yard. idle air control is on the side of the throttle body just below the tps sensor. (on drivers side) good day! now days there is no setting just the motor to control idling.

My 1997 jeep cherokee starts with no problem. But driving at 35-40, she bucks slightly, but at higher speeds, she bucks violently, spurters and stalls. My mechanic has tried everything from new wires,...

Good Evening, I ran across this a couple weeks ago. Needless to say it was something that did not even put up a check engine light. We ended up changing the camshaft position sensor (the electronic pickup in the distributor), we changed the crankshaft position sensor thinking that with the heat maybe there was a breakdown in the sensor and ended up changing the camshaft sensor and squared it all away. Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Joey

Catalytic converters on the Dakota's were a recall issue from 1999-2003 models.
I had a 99 and a 2001 and had the same problem on both.(3 times on the 99 and once on the 01)
You should also check the speed sensor on the rear axle.
The neutral safety switch and the EGR valve.

If I were you,I would start with the Cat and EGR,then check the other stuff if you still have issues.

Please rate this a fixya

Did you properly gap the plugs when you changed them? Improper spark will cause really rough idling at low RPM like that.
