Typically if you need to raise the engine a little, or adjust it's position with a jack the best and safest way is to use a chunky piece of wood at least the same length as the oil pan and wide enough to rest on the jack saddle as a load spreading member between the jack and oil pan. Never try to support the entire weight of the engine this way, it will most likely deform the oil pan.

I put to much oil in my 97 malibu what do I do

oil drain plug is on the bottom of the oil pan, which is under the engine. a proper sized wrench will remove the oil plug. have a large drain pan ready, (5-6 quarts). You might as well have an oil change done at this time as its just a guess how much oil you remove by quickly re installing the plug while draining. If you do drain just a little oil, keep checking the dip stick to be sure not to add more than needed. Add a 1/4 quart at a time. be sue to tighten the drain plug JUST SNUG.

Is there any way to change the serpentine belt on a 97 oldsmobile achieva without removing the engine mount

no not if its the 3.1, to change the belt. remove from pulleys, put a suitable jack under left front of engine to support it. put a piece of wood on jack to prevent oil pan damage.a 2x4 works good . just put slight pressure on engine, then remove the motor mount. replace the belt and put the mount back on. let the jack down when done. thats it! I just replaced mine on a 2000 malibu 3.1, this last spring. have a good one !!

2004 chevy impala 6 cyl. Would not start. Lights etc worked, battery okay. Engine would not turn over. No starter cranking. Call AAA they said to turn the key on for 10 minutes and try again. third time...

it resets the anti theft system, so vehicle will start. all gm vehicles from 97-2005, contain a anti theft system called a passlock system. go to tubesound.com to disable passlock for good. (just type in your problem when page comes up).

How do I find TDC through the #1 cyl spark plug socket on a '97 Ford Escort? I have the timing belt off and have set the valves.

Probably the safest way I can think of is to use a plastic drinking straw. Place it in the spark plug hole (best done when you can see the piston) and rotate the crankshaft slowly by hand. When the straw stops rising you are at TDC. It is better done with a dial indicator but most people don't have one. There are at least three other ways to do this but this is the easiest and safest.

My 97 Chevy Malibu won't stay running.

there are two components that you should be looking at one is called a throttle position sensor and the other is a idle air control motor/valve.these two will make the car hard star or not start at all.the are both located in the general area of the intake manifold right where the throttle cable connects.
