My 2001 chevy venture van has a misfire as i drive what could be the problem

THESE VAN ARE KNOW FOR INTAKE GASKETS LEAKING INTERNALLY,CAUSING A MIS-FIRE. LOOK UNDER THROTTLE BODY AREA FOR COOLANT LAYING IN THE GULLY IF YOU SEE ANYTHING REPLACE INTAKE GASKETS FIRST. IF NOTHING IS LEAKING SPRAY SOME SOAPY WATER ON THE SPARK PLUG WIRES WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND CHECK FOR ARCHING, IF ARCHING IS FOUND REPLACE THE PLUGS AND WIRES.

98 F150 4.2 LEAKING COOLANT BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANNY IS IT A FREEZE PLUG ALSO CYL. 6 MIS FIRE AND SPARK PLUG IGNITER IS REDISH ORANGE

You might have a bad intake gasket. It could be leaking down the back of the motor looking like it is between the engine and trans.Take number 6 plug out and smell it to see if it smells like coolant. If so than chances are your intake gasket is leaking. Hope this helps, leave comment.

Missing Oil????

Sounds like a broken oil ring and your burning it. If so you can bet the converter is already shot.

Have a Cylinder Leak Down Test ,done ,to determine the engine, integrity. Also look at the exhaust gas emissions with an analyzer. Pull the spark plugs, that will tell you which cyl is oil fouled

My 2001 Nissan Frontier 4x4 (6 cyl) is leaking coolant. the coolant is dripping down to the back of the engine and off of the transmission housing. a friend told me that water pumps will do that if they...

If its leaking at the rear its probably not the pump, the pump is in the front. It could be the rear of the intake manifold gasket.Or a heater hose that routed over the rear of your engine. Someone really needs to see where the fluid leaking out to make the call. Try to get a good strong flash light on the leak.Maybe even try lay on you back and slideing under with the light and look up the back side of your engine while its leaking. Engine in park of course. Eye protection needed here. Lay off to the side and look up at an angle so you dont get the coolant on your face or skin. Wash well if you get wet.

Car is running hot when i stop, but then cools off when i start moving, I brought it into the shop and was told i have oil leaking into the coolant, which was then told that it could go the other way and...

For the most part it sounds half way accurate. First of all telling you that it needs to be fixed within 5 to 6 months, in my opinion was a scare tactic used to try to get you to approve the work. Because no one can say it will last this long or that long, there just no way of knowing. I have personally never seen oil leaking into the coolant, in my experience it is always the coolant leaking into the oil. However this is a concern because if coolant is or starts leaking into the oil, it will mix and the oil will lose its ability to lubricate and the engine could seize up eventually (not "blow"). Now then on some model vehicles coolant does run through the intake manifold but I have never seen oil run through the intake. This is were they are indicating they are leaking together. My guess is you have a coolant leak in the intake manifold and the engine is burning the coolant when it runs. Now then my suggestion would be to take it into a different shop and get a second opinion. Tell them the other shop said it will cost 750.00 and that's to high. In these economic times 99% of shops will beat that price to do the work. Also this isn't work that a dealership needs to do, any half way decent shop can make the repairs. I wouldn't take it into a dealership because I feel there labor rates are too high. Any way good luck and I hoped this helped.
