Sounds like low fluid, possibly a bad power steering pump. If you replace the pump do yourself a favor and replace the Rack and Pinion as well and flush out the power steering lines.
Disconnect battery (always neg pole/post first)
find alternator, loosen belt.
disconnect wiring @ alternator.
take alternator off.
put alternator in place of it
put belt on tighten all screws, belt tension screw first.

The Fuel Filter is located:
Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line
Unfortunate all that is available for transmissions for the 1995 and 1996 aurora are the 1995 and 1996 year! The transmissions fron any other year are not compatible or interchangable on the 95-96 years!
