I have a 2001 dodge caravan and the dash lights are going out, at this moment the light behind the fuel indicator is out and half of the speedometer does not light completely, is this controlled by a fuse?

Behind of fuse box( located by emergency brake pedal) is a module, this one controls all gauges

The Dodges had a problem with the circuit board inside the cluster assembly. The fix for them is replacing the circuit board. You are only experiencing the first part of problems. Next the van will intermittently not start. A good firm smack of the dash would normally get it working.

1. do the park lamps work?
2. dash lamp fuse burnt?
3. is the instrument cluster analog or digital?
4. digital clusters have been known to fail however the cluster lighting is controlled by a body computer.
5. proper diagnosis with require a scan tool that will access the body module ( computer)

should be behind the brake pedal under the dash ! look for the wires that go to it !, good luck.

Blown Fuse or fried Circuit board. Take to a local AutoZone, Advance, Murray's, O'reillys or a similar part house for them to check the wiring. I'm assuming the van does not use a mechanical Speedometer or Fuel Gauge.

On the plus side, with no speedometer, your indicated odometer mileage does not increase. Just keep your speed down and your tank full. Kidding, just kidding.

These vans have had issues with the PIN connections to the instrument clusters. With time the solder on the main PIN connection will begin to fail. The good news this may be repaired at home. First you'll need to remove the instruments. To do so remove the dash components from around the instruments then the (4) screws) that hold the instruments in place. Carefully detach the wire connection from the back of it; take to a well lit area. Look for a PIN with a failed solder joint (this will appear as a slight black or grey circle. If found apply heat and let solder be gin to flow; the allow to cool and reassemble. If you look at my history you'll see I've helped others with this issue. Yes, check all fuses with a test light.

On the left of the steering wheel there is the knob for the headlights. Click them on completly. Next to that knob is a rollable up and down Dimmer swithch make sure it is rolled all the way up. The lights should come on. If they do not then maybe the gauge bulbs are blown out. If that is the case you will have to take the dash apart and change the bulbs in the gauges. BEfore you do that, Are all the other lights out as well? radio lights? ac/ heat control lights out?

Disconnect the battery for a minute or two and reconnect it. Sometimes the BCM (body control module) locks up.
