1994 laredo jeep overheating

My jeep ,runs at 190 degrees ...according to the gauge ..on flat road. Under a load however... like going up hill uphill ...we live in the mountains ..the gauge goes to 245 degrees and pretty much stays there till going down hill again then it drops back to 190 or so .. the red line temp is 260 ...but 245 does not seem like a normal operating temp even for going up hill ??? i have replaced the thermostat and the temp coolant sensor not sure what to do next ?? thanks. john

My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee has run hot for the last year. The garage changed the thermostat 3 times and didn't solve the problem. Decided to look at it myself. Thought the radiator might be the problem - clogged? To remove the radiator the headlights, grille, and bumper cover etc needed to be removed. Turned out the radiator was clean inside and held pressure. Problem was junk between the fins stopping the air flow. Radiator shop blew out between the fins with air and it's worked great since. No more overheating.

94 Cadillac Eldorado overheating uphill

This actually sounds like your motor is not the problem it sounds as
thougth your transmission is in need of work. if you have flushed your
system also may look at your oil pump system as the change in pitch of the road to climb hills may infact be pulling sludge against the sump
tube screen and plugging the oil pump. these are the only two reasons I can see for this to happen if system only dose this when climbing a hill
.

I had a similar problem with one of my vans. My problem was a clogged fuel filter. It was a result of water in my gasoline tank.

Cruise control will not maitain the speed it is set on. going up a hill it gets slower and going down a hill it gets faster

My experience is that cruise control works on level roads, uphill you have to control speed yourself same for downhill. Exception is very powerful cars. Did it maintain speeds before? (uphill + downhill)

The flashing light indicates you have a big misfire that could damage the catalytic converter.. Being you were going uphill (under high load) this would indicate an ignition issue. You may have a bad coil or wires or a bad spark plug. The reason you could only go 30mph was because the computer was put in limp mode. This is a stratagy to prevent excessive damage to components. , Get it checked out ASAP
