Negative. the knock snesor is located almost directly above the starter i believe it is on the passenger side underneath you will see it just above the starter. you will need to get a pan ready becasue it goes into a water cannal and be careful pulling off the connextor to it because they can give you problems if the break.

the knock sensors are located on the cylinder heads. the connect to the wiring harness almost directly in the middle of the intake manifolds on the center of the top of the engine. There are two, one for each bank, with each having two sensors per bank. Bank 1 is cylinders 1-6 which is located on the driver's side I beleive.

Refer to the component locations. The Knock Sensor (KS) sensor is located on the sides of the engine block. It is used on gasoline engines only...

Location of knock sensor 9/96 i 30 infiniti v6 3000


Thanks for the info its very important, the knock sensor is located top of the motor under the intake, i know iys a bad spot for it, make sure to get a delphi or dealer sensor, ive try them all and ended up doing the job twice so ive learned you get what you pay for, i would get the sensor from the dealer and the gaskets you can get from any parts store hope this helps, i've also included a diagram that show sensor to help you locate any others and it shows some what where the knock sensor is, good luck,johnjohn2_11.gif

Usually the knock sensor is locate on the side of the engine block by the pan rail

Under the intake manifold. Make sure you get the harness for the knock sensors. and clean out all of the rust and junk you're going to find donw in the holes before and after you replace the sensors.

1999 GMC Sierra 5.3L knocking sound around Catalytic Conerters? ?


on my gmc i have 2 knock sensors and im not possitive if you have two or not under your intake mani but when i replaced both mine i got the same code of low input so i took the small needle out and wire brushed it clean and also traced and ran a new wire just to be safe and that solved my problem. as for bank 1,2 if it helps any my bank one is located engine side driverside and bank2 is engine side passenger side and 3 and 4 are underneath bed side. but you can see the sensors if you look real close near the headers. hope this helps
