Check that the wiring harness to the coils is getting 12v, this will confirm if the pcm is sending a signal for the sparks to fire. Check the ignition coil is sending spark to the plugs with a spark plug tester.
use a12 volt test light and test for power on pink and black wire to the coils if no power check ign fuses manly ign 1 fuse if you have power then hook test light to bat positive and check for grounding pulse on the other wire at each coil if it is pulseing while cranking then suspect bad coils.
most likely the ign switch is ok if you are getting spark. so you have a hot spark at coil and weak fire at plugs? if you have a test light check the positive side of coil for power when turning key on and cranking. if it is dropping power on positive side then ign switch could be bad. can "hotwire" coil by jumping a wire to positive side of coil to pos of battery this will eliminate ign switch.
2.3 and 2.4 has idi ign.syst. mounted directly on top of plugs,2.2 coil pack cylinder numbers are marked on it,from left of elect. connector on coil pack is 2-3-1-4where spark plug wires go,on block, cyl. from drive belt side is 1-2-3-4,timing firing order is1-3-4-2
well you might have"bad ign wires" or bad ign coil!!!!O2 sensor wouldn't do that usually miss fires is wire ,coil, broken or crack porcelain on spark plug usually done on installing them!!!!!! I know the three spark plugs closest to fire wall are not easy to get at and some time spark plugs get cracked and over looked good luck
how old is ur focus is it new shape or old shape if its new shape then its possible that it may need to have new software into ecu as this is a common fault if its old shape its possibility throttle body i doubt it will be ign coil as they normally give out mis-fires
