Question about 2002 Ford SVT Focus
The ignition doesn't use tumblers it uses a wafer system and the wafers wear instead of your key. You will have to call a couple of locksmiths to see who is willing to replace you ignition. I had this done and it works great now and I didn't need a new key. Cost about $150 or more to get it repaired. Good Luck.

If you have an automatic in the floor, right above the geer shift you will see a round peg. Lift that circle peg up with your key or a fingernail file, stick your key in it and turn it. Then remove the key and try starting your car again. Guaranteed to work!

I had this problem with my 2002 focus 2 months ago. I had to replace the ignition & get a new key. The key I had was so worn down it ruined the tumbler.

Did you turn on hold the wheel to the left slightly, to unlock the ignition switch?
