Its a internal groud problem inside the motor is it they won't go to the park pisition unless you time when you shout off the switch or they run all of the time It may be repaired by taking the motor apart and repairing the ground wire in the motor or replace the motor i do have a schematic for this motor

Wipers come on by themselves, cannot turn off, only by pulling fuse or positioning arm in between settings

I would suspect a short in the wiper switch or motor to be the cause. You can try tapping on the motor with the wipers running using a hammer to see if they will shut off. If so, wiper motor replacement will be required. You can also unplug the wiring harness from the switch. If they shut off, you will eliminate any shorts in the wiring from the switch to the motor. The switch would be the next item to change/test

Cigarette lighter in car

The lighter in a Chevy Lumina can get lost easily if you routinely pull it from the socket to plug in electronic devices like GPS systems, cell phone chargers and laptops. If so, you need to replace it.

After replacing the windshield wiper motor on my 1996 dodge caravan the wipers park in the complete opposite position. If I readjust the arm on the motor, the wipers go down not up over the windshield. Is...

This is an old but very current problem also. I just replace my second 97 caravan motor in 6 months because of severe grinding noise and it was the motor both times. I got another re-mfg replacement motor last week and it is totally quiet.
Before you install the crank arm on the motor you operate the wiper switch in all positions to check that the computer is running it intermittently, slow and fast etc. that it and shuts it off at the same position every time. That shut off position is park.
Unplug the external motor connector or fuses. Now push the mechanism arms fully to the right and install the crank arm at two o'clock on the motor shaft, which gives you just enough room to install the hold down nut. Hold one of the metal bars so you don't turn the motor during tightening the nut.
Now reconnect the power plug and test the operation. The motor should shut off with the right end arms fully extended, which, when connected with the blade arm, will make them stop at the bottom of the windshield. Install the driver side wiper arm slightly above level and the left arm 4 inches below that. Don't power tighten yet. Test the operation. If they hit each other adjust one or the other away. This works for most all wiper adjustments. When you get everything looking right and sweeping the full window and not the body. Start tightening and putting every thing back together.
Also clean out the wiper pan and the two drain hoses. The hoses can be pulled loose below the pan. LOL

I HAVE A 1998 CHEVY LUMINA WHICH HAS THE WIPER CONTROL SWITCH THAT SOMETIMES WORKS. IT SMOKES! THE WIPERS ONLY WORK OCASIONALLY. HOW DO I CHANGE OUT THE SWITCH? THANKS! MYRON

Im not positive cause i havent seen a 98 steering wheel but i know on the 92 you need to disable the horn and take the steering wheel off to get to the switch. I assume you have wires crossing. i would check it right away before you have a fire break out.

93 lumina van wiper motor starts but wont shut off

The routine (resistor) that shuts off the wipers and parks them correctly is in the wiper motor, not the switch. I assume your switch is good since you make no complaints about its movement. One thing to check before replacing wiper motor is to loosen the wiper arms, and let the motor park itself in what you feel is the bottom of windshield position. Now align the wipers and retighten.

If these get positioned wrong after, say, a frozen morning, this will affect parking of wipers since motor "park" is no longer in synch with wiper arm "park."

Otherwise, if wiring and positioning are correct, I recommend replacing the wiper motor itself.
