I am looking to purhase a AUDI A6 Quattro 2005 and am tring to work out if you can install a NON Genuine AUDI Satellite Navigation system to the existing stereo / lcd Screen in the car. I the AUDI dealer advised he has heard of it being done before. Can anyone confirm that this can happen and preferably supply what connections are needed or a wiring diagram as i actually have someone who can install it. Thanks Chris

I have just been advised to get a portable Navigation System. I am actually in Australia with this car. problem with portable systems is that they are getting stolen quite a lot here and draw thieves to the car. Also there is already a LCD Screen in the car so woudl ike to utilise that. I woudl really just like the wiring diagram for the car to see what connections there are. then i can see if the system that we can source will fit into the car. thanks again Chris

i have been advsied you can purchase a wire harness from circuit city in Australia however, what am really after is a wiring diagram or connection inputs for teh AUDI A6 quattro 2005. i can then source the GOS module myself. thanks Chris

  • cwhitney Jul 17, 2008

thanks for that. i checked these out however, it still doesnt really confirm whether you could put a NON genuine kit into a AUDI A6 Quattro 2005 model. The GE net ifnormation is for a 2004 model Audi. It may be the same however just wanted to confirm the connections. If anyone out there has them it would be GREAT !! Thanks Chris

thanks again. that again is GREAT advice. I have searched for in built GPS devices here in Australi however cant seem to find many. do you have any contacts where you can get these from? i actually saw some software in a taxi a few weeks ago that had the maps and colouring simialr to a hard copy book that looked good. I was also wanting the red light cameras and school zones. Finally if this system had the TV tuner as well that would be good. thanks Chris

I just got off the phone to Garmin and i dont know if they have a system that has a inhuilt system. Also their software doesnt look very good to use either. Finally, would they have a TV Tuner in them? Thanks Chris

Better search at your area (location) dealers to be sure about availability of maps and functionality.

Hi,,

Normally the originals come with patented adaptors and you really cant install anoter that easily .. However yes you can.. YYou will need to modify the existing wiring as well as the wiring on the device. The wire harness you are talking about is really all that you need from it is the power and grounding wire. The lcd connects via the same port or maybe just with a little modification..

Anyway basically all you have to do is connect the gps power directly on the battery or somewhere on the main harness(of the vehicle) and then connect the lcd to the gps via the lcd connector or output and the stero in the same manner.. I guess you understand what i'm getting too.. You dont need to spend money all you need is a little thinking out of the box.,,
I'm not sure if that answered you question

But you dont need any special harness
you may need a lcd abaptor depending on the gps
and a setro adaptor also depending on the gps..

Mostly the parts should be standered similar to OBD2 tech..

Your best bet is just getting a portable car navigation GPS, they are fairly inexpensive nowadays, you can pick one up for less than $150 (newegg.com / geeks.com) Also, a TV tuner might be useless soon because they are getting rid of analog broadcast TV.

Here is the perfect solution. Now you just have to find a GPS with A/V output, but this will allow you to have any AV device displaying through the car's LCD.

Yes, you can install a non factory ABS if the model is compatible.

You can use any compatible GPS, majority of them will work. Connect to dvd displays using standard RCA cables.

Only a high pressure service valve is used for A/C system servicing. A low pressure service valve is not installed. Perform all A/C system service (ie. discharging, evacuating and charging) through the high pressure service valve only.

Audi A6 3.0 tdi Quattro 2005, glow plug light comes on, limp mode

16619 -Engine boost condition - Limit not reached. Check intake hoses/ connections for leaks. Check Turbo charger waste gate regulating valve/ waste gate working correctly. Must move freely when accelerating, won't achieve full boost if waste gate sticking open. Check Turbo impeller turning freely, oil feed pipe for turbo can get blocked causing impeller to seize. Engine compact, not easy to access these components.

Oil level problem with 2005 Audi A6 3.0 TDI Diesel Quattro

My 2005 A4 3.0 convertible audi is not a diesel, but I had a similar experience with a low oil signal going on and after checking the oil, which was sufficient, and replacing the dipstick, the light did not come back on until a subsequent trip. The light usualIy went on when I was close to the needing an oil change. I've had the car, a used one, for about two years, and the oil light minimum signal started behaving like yours early. About a week ago the oil pressure warning light came on. I don't know if there's a relationship, but if there is be careful. Audis of our vintage have a problem with sludge build up that damages the oil pump, which is a costly item. If you drive the car with low oil pressure you may seriously/fatally damage the car. I don't know if the sludge, if that's what you have, can be cleaned out, but I'd do it if it can be. My mechanic advised me to trade the car to a dealer rather than fix it. Hope you have better luck!
