THis unit is serviceable separate from the fuel pump. It is a factory part you can buy at a dealer. The parts store show it bat as not available. Should you need further help please just ask. Location sending unit

If it is a 4.3 L engine, it is located at the right hand side of the distributer as you are looking in at the engine. It looks somewhat like a mushroom W/ a wire going iinto it.

Is there anything else that controls the fuel on a 1999 chevy astro van

You removed the relay and put back in, and it can start? It could be a relay going bad or a wiring terminal connection where the relay plugs in. I would try a new relay and see if problem goes away. Clean the terminals with an electronic cleaner spray, where the relay plugs in.

Where is the fuel filter on a 1999 ford taurs

The fuel filter is located in the sending unit. This contains three primary components - the fuel pump, the fuel filter, and the fuel level sensor. The sending unit is located inside the fuel tank. This is done because the fuel around it helps cool the fuel pump, therefore extending its life. To remove the unit(You might need a lift), you need to:
1) Drain the fuel tank
2) Detach the fuel tank from the vehicle
3) Lower the tank
4) 'Unlock' the sending unit (it sort of locks in there, but there's no key or anything)
5) Remove the whole unit and replace the problem part.
6) Put the sending unit back.
7) Re-attach the tank.
8) Fill the tank.

I have a 1999 Chevy Astro Mini Van, the fuel gauge shows that it is empty when I just filled it up , it is always moving from full to emtry , is my fuel pump sending unit going bad?

Hi, typically, this would resemble a faulty sending unit, when the computer sets a code for this sensor, it will set your guage to empty as a result. A new sensor may correct this condition.Good luck...Coop

Locating and changing fuel pump

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank.

You will need to remove the sending unit at the top of the tank.

To access the sending unit, you will need to drop the tank by removing the straps. It is a big tank, so drain as much as possible, and don't forget to disconnect the battery before you start.

Hope this helps.
