Air bag light is on and cruise control, lighter and horn don't work. There is a mechanism I'm sure in the steering wheel that needs to be changed. Is it dangerous to drive until I get it fixed? Thanks Steve

It is the cable under your driving seat. Ford is aware of this problem but will not recall. You can fix it yourself, mingle a little bit and the light will go off, just make sure you have connection./ Frank

Sounds like if you have other things that are not working it could be as simple as a fuse is burnt out.

Hi
im dave
if the air bag light is on that means the system is disabled. If you dont mind driving without an airbag than i would say it is no more dangerous than driving a pre air bag vehicle and those inherent dangers. Remember howevere that an air bag is a secondary resttraint system and should always be used in conjunction with the primary restraint system...your seatbelts.

Horn ha stopped working completely; was told by mechanic that it needs a sensor which costs $300+; what happened to the old replace the fuse?

Why would a horn require a sensor?
I don't buy it.
Tell us more on the make, model, and year.
If someone told me the horn was $300, I would wire a new horn and button on the dash for $15.

I RECENTLY HAD A STEERING WHEEL IN MY FORD-F150 REPLACED, NOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS , CRUISE CONTROL, AND HORN ARE NOT WORKING.WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM , OTHER THAN MY CHOICE OF MECHANICS ?

The air bag ligth is on ? because if it is on you may have a problem with the clockspring that is located behind the steering wheel and it's connected with the steering wheel air bag

Cruise control stopped working horn doesn't work Air bag light is on

If the air bag light is on, the horn does not sound when the pad is depressed (but does souns when you activate the alarm) and the cruise control doesn't work (but the lamp lights up when you first turn the key on), your issue is probably with the clockspring. This is a device that keeps an electrical connection between the steering wheel and the rest of the car regardless of steering wheel position.

Cruise control and horn stopped working

You need a new clockspring. It is behind the steering wheel, at the top of the steering column. It has wires wound around it like a clock. You will need to disconnect the battery, remove the air bag, then the steering wheel, and the steering column trim. Unbolt it, and install in reverse order.

Air bag light stays on

The Airbag, horn and cruise control share on common component. The clock spring inside the steering wheel. The clockspring is snapped into a plastic mounting platform on the steering column behind the steering wheel. The clockspring is used to maintain a continuous electrical circuit between the wiring harness and the driver's airbag module. This assembly consists of a flat ribbon like electrically conductive tape which winds and unwinds with the steering wheel rotation.
The clocksprings going bad is a common problem with Chrysler products. Since the Airbag is involved, I would recommend the dealer replace it. It is about a $175.00 to $200.00 repair. or you can try junk yards hope this help have a nice day.

1998 Ford windstar horn wiring

There is something called a clock spring in the column that is used for the airbag, horn and cruise control buttons. This clock spring if messed with will cause a/bag light to come on and possibly cause a/bag failure if there is a collision. DON"T mess with the wiring in the column. Run new wires in to the horn or install an a/market horn.
