While driving the 2002 dodge grand caravan it started to make a very large humming noise, when I try to go a little faster to make it home the noise became even louder. Some thought it maybe the fan belt but I thought that trouble with the fan belt might make a squealing noise? This humming noise only happened twice, the van has been driving smooth. The weather has been very cold in the low 20's. I appreciate your help, Thank you!

My 2008 dodge grand caravan does the same thing. I can unlock my doors and the clicking from the dashboard will start. I turn van on . (Engine is running) and nose gets louder and faster. It's almost like the shift lock is spazzing.out. I put.my hand on dash next to gear shifter and I can feel vibration from where noise is coming from. Also when I turn van off and get out if van. The noise of clicking keeps going. But than stops afterwhile..does.any dodge mechanic know what this is.?
Since you are still under warranty, I suggest getting your transmission checked at a dealer. We had to get ours replaced at about 28M miles. It was making wierd noises, especially in a parking lot at low speeds and when turning slowly.
There is no dipstick for the transmission fluid on our model :(
If you recently changed tires, then that could possibly be the noise too.
I had a similar problem with a popping - clanking noise when I was turning the Steering Wheel and going at a slow speed.
See if you can have someone listen outside the car while you drive it to be sure.
I replaced the one drive axle and the problem was solved.
