Question about 2004 Ford Windstar

1 Answer

Ok, here we go...

Sister was driving a 2004 windy, 6cyl. Engine was at highway speeds (55) when it gave a loud "SLAP" noise, followed by "bogging" and loss of power. Coasted to side of road, engine died, no restart. towed to local garage. showed up two hours later, vehicle starts, but sis afraid to drive it. Sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me, as teh fire still wants to turn the engine when it would not start directly after this incident. I know NADA about this vehicle. lil help?

Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral.
It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration
along with the noise?

When warm, humming noise from front. engine or transmission

Did you replace the alternator with a new or used alternator? The transmission is controlled by the alternator on pacifica's. Check your caytilatic converter for the humming noise..

"Humming" or "bearing" type noise in left front at highway speeds

That's a hub bearing. Replace the one that's doing it. I'm assuming this 'roar' is coming from the front, NOT the rear.

Sounds like itr is not getting enough fuel. Try or check the fuel filter for dirt or water, and also check the fuel pump pressure to see if it meet factory specs.

I have a 2004 Sonnata 6cyl. This morning I went to start it up and the engine made a loud knocking noise and the engine light came on. Could this be from low oil?

ok did the knocking noise speed up as you pressed the pedal? if so id check the oil first and see if that helps at all and if it continues to make the knockin sound you might have a thrown rod/piston. The oil can effect the the pistons being as it is the lubricant for the pistons to move up and down in the bores(cylinders) but the low oil would only cause the engine to start knocking if there hasnt been any oil added as needed for a long while. has you engine got hot or warmer than usual? the could also be a symptom of low oil.
