Check your brake lights, if they don\'t work the interlocking system will not let you shift from park. If brake lights don\'t work probably the brake lamp switch on the pedal shaft. Check power in and out of switch when stepping on pedal, if nothing coming out, swi

Have 1991mazda 626 I put brake drums , master cylinder brakes still go down do not know what to do net

It appears that you have not bled the air out of the system. Get a mate to pump the brake pedal a few times then hold it down while you open the bleed screw starting at the nipple furtherest from the m/cyl. Hold down the pedal while you retighten the nipple. repeat the process until there is only oil coming out. Do this at all nipples until the pedal is solid. don' forget as you are doind this the oil in the m/ cyl resevoir will be going down so keep an eye on it and refill as necessary. Use only the correct brake fluid from an unopened container

Can't shift out of park

The shift interlock has failed, the most common issue is from a poor connection at the brake pedal position sensor. I t became so common the factory issued a Technical Service Bulletin on it. It can also be the solenoid or cable.

ISSUE
The Brake Shift Interlock may be inoperative on some vehicles, not allowing the operator to move the shift lever from the Park position. Stop Lamp operation may also be affected. This may be caused by a deformed Brake Pedal Position Switch electrical connector.
ACTION
Restore Brake Pedal Position Switch operation by installing an updated electrical connector and pigtail.
Refer to the following Service procedure for details.
Try your brake lights if they don't work replace brake switch under pedal also try turning key to run but don't start shift into netural if you can and start. But you won't have brake lights If this helps please rate it thanks

Brake light stays on with beeping sound

Check & replace if necessary the brake pedal switch placed above pedals on the support.

The brake pedal switch on a 2001 VW Beetle is placed above pedals on the support.

1. Remove the cover panel above the driver's side foot well...

2. Locate old switch, push in brake pedal, and twist switch body to remove...

3. Unplug 4 pin connector from old switch and plug into new switch (it only goes one way...don't force it!). Insert new switch into frame and depress brake petal. You should turn it until it locks into place and is positioned like the original.

4. Start Bug. Press the brake pedal once or twice and the EPC light should go out ...

5. If it looks like that... great! Replace the cover over the foot well and you are done! If not, check the 4 pin connection and make sure it is fully seated in the switch. Also check to see if you can hear the switch engage when you press the brake pedal ... if not, you will need to remove the switch and adjust the push rod. The rod will move in and out for adjustment. Check to see if the brake lights come on when you press the brake pedal as well!

No brake lights

have you checked the fuses for the brake lights it is in the fuse panel under the dash on the driver`s side.if it is good and only the brake lights don`t work(signals work)then the nest step is to check the brake switch.this is under the dash at the base of the brake pedal and above.when you push on the brake pedal it pushes against or moves the switch enough to close the circuit.you should see a 2 wire plug connected to the switch.there should be power on one side of the switch at all times and when you push on the pedal there should be power on both wires.one wire supplies power to the switch and the other supplies power to the brake lights.if you don`t have power on both wires then you have a bad switch.NOTE fords have a problem with the wires breaking at the switch.

Brake lights stay on

mcdevito75 here, Are you sure your haedlite switch is off, if it"s on your brake lite will also stay on. However it could be the brake light switch out of adjustment. It"s located on the brake pedal, with your foot behind the brake pedal gently lift up on the brake pedal and see if the brake lights go out if they do or even if they don"t, have yoyr local shop check it out.
