Question about 2003 GMC Envoy Xl

1 Answer

Steering problem when turning steering wheel hard right or left as if backing out of a driveway or turning right or left at a corner the car slows down and feels as if the front wheels are going to buckle. never driven hard or hit any jarring potholes that could come to mind that would have damage steering or suspension. tires have about 15000 miles on them and properly inflated. wheels have no play side to side when vehicle is jacked up

I have the same steering problem with my GMC Envoy. Whenever I turn my steering wheel sharp my engine feels like its going to stall and the car just chugs along. It happens mostly when I am pulling in and out of a parking spot.

If it is 4wd you may have a problem with your front differential. GMCs are known for having front differential axle seals leaking. If all the fluid is out metal parts may be binding.

1996 camry le 6 cylinder. cannot get ignition key to turn to start car. gear is in park and have tried adjusting steering wheel

Hi the steering lock could be causing you the problem try turning the steering wheel hard left whilst turning the key and do the same hard right.

it may be hard to turn but you should find once you have moved it slightly it will unlock allowing you to turn the key so dont adjust the steering wheel turn it to the right as if your trying to turn to the right and if this dont let the key turn turn the wheel to the left it only needs to move slightly to allow the steering lock to free the key,

doing the above should solve you problem

give me a shout back if you have any further problems ok

Steering not straightening out at slow speed

Worn steering components which allow the steering wheels to travel too far either way,hop underneath and get a friend to move the steering while you have a look for movement between the components, or a power steering component like relief valve. Its a bit hard to know without seeing the vehicle, i suggest a steering and suspension specialist like pedders or similar. These guys can do a safety inspection only, if you want to do the work yourself. Cheers Timo.

Steering wheel hard to turn right but not left at slow speeds

Check the power steering fluid level. Left is torque side and probably tightens the belt as right it would loosen the belt a little so check the belt for sloppyness too. Hope this helps, The Raz

My 2005 Ram 2500 cummins is making a grinding noise on the drivers side wheel area. The noise happens when I back out of my driveway and turn the wheel or when I turn slow, like backing out of a parking...

Its more then likely a wheel bearing. Try taking it down the highway and turning left and right erratically. Almost like a swerve. If you hear the noise I would put money down on the wheel bearing.

Cannot get key to turn in jeep. Have already driven it numerous times today, suddenly can't move steering wheel or gear shift and key will not turn. Help!

Try turning the steering wheel (hard) right and left while turning the key. Steering lock , and ignition lock work in conjunction with each other.
