1992 Toyota Land Cruiser oil leak

Yesterday someone noticed oil streaming from under our car. It turned out to be a hole, apparently machined into the block between two spark plugs back behind the distributor cap. it is the dia. of a pencil. There is no obvious reason for it to be there. Can you tell me what it is and how it should be capped or whatever. Thank you.

Here is a link that might help. I had the same problem and followed the procedure there and haven't had any problems since.

THE TOYOTA GARAGE SAY THAT I NEED TWO OIL SEALS IN THE FRONT OF MY CRANK FOR A TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 2001 4.2 D. I HAVE GOT A OIL LEAK ON THE BACK OF THE CRANK PULLEY. 2 . WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF YOU DRIVE...

The damper pulley, on the end of the crank is what drives the belts for pretty much everything else. the engine will overheat, the alternator wont charge, the power steering wont work, the air con wont work,
the back of the pulley has a machined surface that runs inside the front crank seal.
Is there a reason not to believe the toyota mechanic, or did it seem expensive?
The front damper pulley (harmonic balancer) can be $100 or more plus the seal and I believe the radiator needs to come out to complete the job

92 Landcruiser sprung huge oil leak out of a hole, apparently machined into the block between two spark plugs back behind the distributor cap. it is the dia. of a pencil. There is no obvious reason for it...

you need a new frost plug. your antifreeze wasn't strong enough. you might have cracked your block. look in your radiator to see if there is still coolant in it.

My 1997 toyotta landcruiser is leaking a lot of oil it has 300,000 miles where should i start

start at the top and use a degreasant to wash away some of the oil from the topmost part of the engine and locate/fix any leaks you find, then work your way downwards until all leaks sorted.PLEASE DO NOT USE "OIL LEAK ADDITIVES"they are only good if someone is trying to sell thier car and wants to ****** the new buyer.....(not nice)

New turbo diesel L/cruiser engine blowin smoke

Its getting oil in the cylinders from somewhere. With it being more smokey in the morning leeds me to think its valve stem seals ( oil lying on top of the cylinder head around the valves) . Could the new engine have been old stock. If so then the stem seals probably hardened. They may soften with running a while. If it is under warranty take it back now.
