Question about Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 98 Honda Accord. The problem with this car is that it cuts off while driving and comes back automatically. Sometimes it comes back in one or two seconds but in some occasions it takes much longer. Local Honda dealer has been trying to solve the issue but failed so far. They changed the ignition switch twice but the issue remains unresolved.

hi, i have same problem, fitted new main relay.....no different. i'm sure it's ignition related, as fuel is good, but no spark. leave to cool for 5- 15 mins, and fires up and runs good again. could be coil?

Replace the main relay. It's under the dash towards the left side.

1999 Accord Automatic Transmission issue

im so sorry to say that Honda has a bad transmission line in the 98-02 accord models.. there were severe recalls on this very matter..I only got rid of my 99 accord V6 because the shop who changed my motor mounts crushed my transmission line and blamed it on me..if you had motor mounts or timing done or serpentine belt(i forgot if it has both or just 1),then check to see if transmission line is crushed it can be seen right underneath the battery..

Lately my accord (98) has been cutting off while driving

Sorry I guess this should have been posted as a solution. Here goes again...I had the exact same problem. After many test and trials, I changed out my ignition switch last month. "MAGICALLY" No more problems!!!! Everything started working normal again. Problem is that everything in that car goes through the ignition switch. Even the battery charges through it. Anyways, I bought an new one from adavanced discount auto parts for $55 installed it myself. Problem solved. If you want to install yourself here is an awesomely detailed link that really helped me: http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2353017
I hope this helps you the way it did me.
