Oil pressure warning light

The oil pressure light coming on at idle is not a big worry, so long as it goes out as soon as revs rise.. First step is to remove the oil pressure sender unit and screw in an oil pressure gauge. a mechanic can do this for you. This will tell you if the sender is faulty (common enough) or the oil pressure is low. A rule of thumb is to have about 10 psi per 1000 RPM in the normal rev range

If it is indeed low, possible causes are
- worn big end or main bearings (the car is old enough)
-faulty or weak over-pressure relief valve in oil pump
-worn or faulty oil pump
-blocked or sludged up oil passages
-blocked or sludged up oil pickup strainer mesh in sump

Some of these can be investigated by putting the car on a hoist and removing the sump

Hi mate 2005 toyota alphard oil light on some time?

could be a bad connect or faulty oil pressure sender unit
have the oil pressure checked by using a mechanical oil pressure gauge
that will show if it is the electrical system gauge or if you have a real problem in the lubrication system of the engine
It is best if you have the test done by an accredited service shop that has experience on your make of vehicle
some of the items that can cause this condition are
spinning main bearing shell
loose oil pick up tube on pump
problem pump relief valve
low oil level
failing hydraulic belt / chain tensioner
gauge / sender faulty
so it is critical that a correct diagnosis be made

I have a massive oil leak

Main source of oil leak is going to be valve cover, crank seal, balance shaft seal and distributor o-ring.

How do I determine if my 2003 Lincoln LS has a rain sensor using the vin number

A few reasons , low on oil , faulty oil pump relief valve , faulty sender unit. Remove the oil sender unit fit a gauge, start engine and check oil pressure if ok replace sender unit . If still low check oil pump pick up strainer and relief valve spring.

92 toyota cressida oil leak does the timing belt cover have upper and lower gaskets seperate? i bought gasket had it and front main seal gasket replaced still leaking though

Pressure inside the engine is the cause of most oil leaks. Imagine you having a mouthful of mashed potatoes. They probably won't leak out until something makes you laugh or sneeze, increasing the pressure. You don't have a gasket problem, you have a pressure relief problem.
Either you have worn cylinder rings and/or a blocked PCV valve or other emission system malfunction.

Idiot light and buzzer for oil coming on at low rpms. Oil level on full. Engine not overheating no excessive noise from lifters. Assuming sending unit or oil pressure switch. Not sure where these are...

It might be the sender unit or you are using an oil grade that is too thin and the oil pressure is down a bit. However, the oil pressure switch is located on the engine block above the sump level and looks a bit like a small spark plug with black insulation. It has one wire coming from it with a press on connector. Replace it and if you have the same problem the next in line would be:-
Oil change and filter (20W-50)
Leaking oil pressure relief valve
Worn oil pump
Worn valve train components
Worn bearings

My oil psi is around 14 in my 1998 buik park ave what could it be

Any one of several things, hopefully not excessive wear on a bearing (crankshaft, camshaft, etc) The relief valve on the pump may be leaking or the spring has weakened, the oil pump has excessive wear on the rotors, most likely the sender unit or gauge is faulty (we hope). Good luck.

Low oil pressure light is on on 2000 lexus rx300. Doesn't need oil or an oil change. Not leaking oil.

try replacing the oil preasure switch, if that doesnt solve your problem then have your oil preasure tested, if it really doesnt have oil preasure it will cause internal engine damage so start with the switch and then go from there, hope this is helpful.

Too much crank case pressure

to much crankpressure can be caused by a couple of things....a clogged PCV valve(cheapest) or compression blow-by at the piston rings ( most expensive) you need to have a cylinder leak down test performed...that will tell you where the problem is

OIL PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

If cleaning the engine does not work, replace the oil press. sending unit. These senders on Jeeps have had a history of problems where they will work one day and not the next day.
