Surging go up hill in my 92 carvan and when i rev her up it has umpf

Engine is surging or the transmission slipping? My guess is the transmission is slipping, letting the engine rev up to 3000. Does it feel like it quits pulling?

Get a new engine

the cruise control limits have been exceeded
the rad speed drops going up hill, the transmission shifts , that exceeds the rpm so it drops back the gear s shift again and the cycle is repeated
nothing really wrong , just incorrect driving practice
good practice is to turn of the cruise control when going up hills that puts the control outside parameters for the operation

pretty complex problem there man! sounds like it could possibly be something with the transmission. at the part when you say if youre pulling at 55 and it wont speed up, does the engine rev up but it doesnt do anything or no change in engine speed? if the engine sped up, it sounds like a transmission problem, if it didnt make a change in the engine, then it could be as you said a fuel problem. also as a last thought, it could also be a sensor malfunctioning. you might want to take it to a ford dealer and get it diagnosed

i have the same prblm 92 sl2 auto 140k. maybe we need new cars. from what i been reading valve body assembly needs replaced.

i'm just going to go slow and avoid hills.

the very first thing you should do is have your fuel pressure checked. sounds like fuel filter or fuel pump.

mass air flow sensor its in the air intake pipe

Sounds like you have massive clutch slippage and you will have to have the clutch replaced and resurface the flywheel for maximum clampping power at a machine shop.

If fuel filter isn't on the frame near the l/r wheel it's on top of the fuel sending unit on the tank.

I had the same problem on my jeep come to find out it was the crank sensor not reading the motor runing
