Pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it over.Or once you crack the fuel line open it will release the pressure put a rag around it before you do that and you will be fine.

HaVE A 96 1500 PICK UP WITH V6 VORTEC, GETTING ONTO FWY TRUCK DIED. NOW IT WILL CRANK OVER, HAVE SPARK AND FUEL TO CARB. WONT START. IF I POUR FUEL INTO CARB IT WILL RUN. ANYIDEAS IAM SITTING ON FWY NOW

Sounds like you lost a fuel pump, although they usually don't quit while being driven. Have it towed and get a fuel pressure check. That vehicle has to have very close to 60 psi fuel pressure to run. Have a new fuel filter installed also. Plugged fuel filters are the most common cause of fuel pump failure.

Where is the fuel pressure release in the 03 silverado so i can change the fuel filter? Is it an easy repair i can do myself?

the pressure release valve is located on the fuel rail under the hood at the intake manifold.it should have a cap that is removed and will look like a tire schrader valve and if you push down on the valve it will release fuel pressure.you can also release pressure if you let the car sit for a half hour and disconnect the fuel line, wiggle it as it is almost completely disconnected.you will get some fuel out past the fitting and this should release the pressure also.note you will still get fuel coming out of the filter when removing the lines and the filter from the car.

2000 chevorlet silverado 2500 w 6.0 liter. Vehicle dies after start has rough idle and smells like fuel under heavy acceleration. Vehicle also bogs down when stopping heavier then usually. I have tested...

Sounds like a ruptured diaphram in the fuel pressure regulator. Fuel is being sucked into the motor through the vacuum line. remove vacuum line off regulator and see if there is fuel, or odor of fuel in the line , if so , the regulator is bad. Good Luck

Honda Civic Coupe. Year 2000 1.6. How can I depressurize the fuel system easily to change the fuel filter situated in the engine compartment.

Hi,

IMPORTANT: Do not skip the fuel system pressure release step. Injury and other damage can result!
Safety Step! Relieving Fuel System Pressure
· allow engine to cool
· relieve fuel system pressure
· put on your eye protection
Before you begin the job of replacing your fuel filter, you must relieve the pressure in your fuel system. A fuel injection system operates under very high pressure. If you don't release this pressure before you start unscrewing fuel lines the result can be explosive. Do this before you attempt to change the fuel filter.
To release the pressure in your fuel lines (and fuel filter) you'll need to locate the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box. If you don't have a fuel pump fuse, find the relay that operates the fuel pump. Once you've found the fuel pump fuse or relay, start the car. With the engine running, pull the fuse or relay out. If you pulled the right one, the engine will quickly die. Since it's using all of the pressurized fuel in the system, the fuel lines won't be pressurized when you crack the fittings on your fuel filter.
Now that you've relieved the fuel pressure you can remove the old fuel filter.
If you didn't do this yet, you must go to the previous step and do it. Very dangerous!

Best regards.

How to remove the fuel filter underneath a 2000 Ford Excursion?

finde fuel filter under the vehicle on the inside of the left frame rail.
Inspect the hose fittings at both ends of the filter to see if they're
clean. If more than a light coating of dust is present, clean the fittings before proceeding.
Relieve the fuel system pressure ( Remove the fuel filler cap -this will relieve any pressure built up in the fuel tank.
Locate the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail (The fuel pressure test port is located at the right rear of the engine, on the fuel rail) and connect the fuel pressure gauge to the Schrader valve.
Direct the bleed-off hose into a metal cup or suitable container for gasoline storage
Turn the valve and allow the pressurized fuel to bleed into the container.
Close the valve, remove the fuel pressure gauge and cap the test port.
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery before performing any work on the fuel system.). Remov all of the fuel lines from the fuel filter is a two-stage procedure.
First, detach any safety clips from the inletand outlet lines.
Second, install the special fuel line disconnect tool onto the fuel filter inlet port, then push the disconnect tool intothe fuel line
coupling untilit releases itselffrom the fuel filter. Repeat this procedure on the outlet port. Note: Seek help for more information on spring-lock couplings.
After both couplings have been released, grasp the fuel hoses, one at a time, and pullthem straightoff the filter.Be prepared for fuel spillage.
After the hoses have been petached, check the clips for damage and distortion. If they were damaged in any way during removal, new ones must be used when the hoses are reattached to the new filter (if new clips are packaged with the filter, be sure to use them in place of the originals).
Remove the fuel filterfrom the mounting clamp, while noting the direction the fuel filter is installed.
Install the new filter in the same direction.
Carefully push each hose onto the filter until it's seated against the collar on the fitting, then install the clips.
Mak~ sure the clips are securely attached to the hose fittings - ifthey come off, 'the hoses could back off the filter and a fire could result!
Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

Warning: Gasolineand diesel fuels are flammable, so. take extra precautions when you work on any part of the fuel system. Don't
smoke or allow open flames or bare lightbulbs near the work area, and don't work in a garage where a gas-type appliance (such as a
water heater or clothes dryer) is present.
Since fuel is carcinogenic, wear latex gloves when there's a possibility of being exposed to fuel, and, if you spill any fuel on your skin, rinse it off immediately with soap and water.
Mop up any spills immediately and do not store fuel-soaked rags where they could ignite.
When you perform any kind of work on the fuel system, wear safety glasses and have a Class B type fire extinguisheron.

How to replace a fuel filter for a Mitsubishi Mirage 2000

There is pressure...you have to remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the service cover and then detach the fuel pump harness connector.Start the car and allow it to run until the engine stalls.Turn the key to off position. Then disconnect the negative battery cable, attach the fuel pump connector, and install the access cover. Now place shop rags or towels around the fitting that is being disconnected. Loosen the filter feed pipe flare nut on the bottom of the filter.Seperate the flare nut from the filter. If equiped, remove and discard the gakets. remove the mounting bolts and remove the filter.if necessary remove the filter bracket. To install: install the filter to it's bracket only finger tight. Make sure the flow arrow is in the right direction. Make sure new O rings are installed prior to installation. Insert the filter feed pipe to the lower connection of the filter and manually screw in the main pipe's fare nut. While holding the fuel filter nut with a back-up wrench, tighten the banjo bolt to 22 ft pounds and tighten the flare nut to 25 with a back-up wrench on the nut. tighten the filter mounting bolts to 10 ft. pounds. Connect negative battery cable. turn key on to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks. If repairs on the fuel system are needed remember to release the pressure before opening the fuel system. Hope this helps. Good luck!
