Question about Chevrolet Silverado 1500

1 Answer

Hi, my name is April. I'm having some problems with my pickup, and I need some advice. What's going on is this morning when I started my pickup, it seemed that it heated up too quickly. Within 20 minutes, it shut down. I couldn't start it up. When it's cold, it starts up fine. When it's hot, it just shuts down. No SES light on. Could you give me some ideas on where to start looking? Thank you.

Your ECT (engine coolant temp.) sensor sounds like it's bad. Check your coolant level and make sure it's full. The ECT sometimes triggers and engine light most don't. This is a very common problem with Chevy trucks.

I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze it had ran out of gas I had to make 3 trips to the gas station to put $6.00 in the tank it still won't turnover is there a reset button I can push to reset my fuel pump or is...

It is shot. Hit the bottom of the tank. It will jar the pump and will start or not. Either way replace the pump. Running older cars out of gas usually kills the pump.

Whining in the engine

I had the same whining noise, but after a minute or two it would go away. It turned out to be my water pump. It wouldnt turn first thing in the morning and the belt was just running through the pulley, (causing the whining noise). This may not be your problem, but it is easy to check. Just pop your hood and see if the fan is turning.
