Hello, You should see an object under the hood on the Drivers side. This object will be round and look like 2 frying pans laying with 1 up and 1 down and will be mounted to a body part called the Firewall. Bolted on this part will be the Master Cylinder and it will have a plastic bowl hopefully full of Brakefluid. There is a "Fill" line running along the top edge.

You can go to Autozone, Oreillys. and Advance autoparts for help on your car. They will put in Batteries, windshield wipers, and run a scanner on your vehicle for free. They will tell you what type of Brakefluid you need and can tell you if it needs some fluid.

I would not add Fluid more than once without having the Brakelines checked or the wheel Calipers looked at for leakage problem. The Fluid level will drop slightly as the Brake linings wear, but the level should not change even Monthly without there being a problem.

I hope my solution is very helpful in solving your concerns, and it is good that you are not ignoring what your car may be telling you.

Installed new master cylinder and now getting low pressure to right rear and left front


OK.
You might have to bleed the brakes at the right rear and left front to build up pressure and get the air out of the system.

Also, did you 'bench bleed' the master cylinder? Manufacturers recommend and require that you do this in order to get any air out of the master cylinder before installing.

Abs light is on


This light means there is a problem in the brakes. You need to inspect the brakepads, check your brakefluid level, and look at the Rotors for deep scrapes.

The back Emergency brakes can also trigger an ABS warning. The E brakes are drum type and the Rotors must be removed to inspect them.

The ABS system is usually right. You can possibly lose your brakes or at the least make a repair more expensive by ignoring them. You can go to a specialty Brake shop, check the back of Telephone books for Coupons and get a discount. Most places will give you an estimate. But remember the parts are concealed and it will be an estimate.

You have to remove the air trapped in the hydraulic system. Look at change of brakefluid in a repair handbook and perform it as described.

Useful to change the brakefluid at least once every five years anyway.

you are right when you mastercylinder related,as you have a very small port (compesating)inside the cylinder and should a small partical enter and block this port the brakefluid cannot push back when releasing the brakes causing the brakes to bind.the cylinder should be removed and cleaned.

fuse #10 in the fuse box inside the van under the dash this fuse will be blown HOWEVER the reason the fuse is blown is your real problem
the most likely cause is the reduntant bps on the master cylinder just unplug it and the fuse should stop blowing.
you can replace it if you want.
be very carefull of leaking brakefluid on harness below this sensor if brakefluid has leaked into harness and is not attended too it can cause major problems.

Change brakepads


jack the vihicle up and put blocks,remove wheels and undo bolt on the caliper,make sure to push piston slowly back to open enough space for new pads,fit new pads and do the same other side.if brake fluid overflows from the resouvoir dnt worry,just clean with water only as brakefluid reacts wiv pait,make sure you pump the paddle before driving off,it may feel spongy for a short while not to worry.

Unable to bleed front brakes


loosen the front brake line that goes to the master cylinder fill master cylinder up with fluid and bleed it first by attaching a flexible line from master cylinder front brake side submerge that line into jar of brakefluid keeping air from entering line get someone to pump brake pedal while ur holding line in a jar keep refilling the brake resivoir so no air gets in, once the master is bled front brake side then reattach the origional brake line then remove bleed screw from caliper and let fluid gravity flow down to calliper then bleed the normal way. more than likely your master cylinder has air trapped in the front portion good luck

Subaru Legacy, hand brake light


Read somewhere else about light coming on when brakefluid in the resevoir is low. I added fluid to mine and bingo light went off.
