My wife 1997 nissan sentra does not fire up. It acts like it wants to start but does not fire up all the way.

There could be many things that cost this. I will let you know what you can check. Make sure that you check all fuses. Next, make sure the engine is getting gas. You need to listen for the fuel pump to kick on when you turn the key. You can also spray engine cleaner in the carb. Start the car and if it starts for a second, you have a fuel problem. If the gas checks out, move to checking your timing belt. You should only have to remove just one cover to see the belt. Check the belt and make sure that it is not missing any any teeth. Check your spark plugs/coil wires for possible damage. Check the rotor and the distributor cap for damage. It could be the distributor itself, a cam sensor, and a crank sensor. I know it is a lot of stuff, but any one of these can cause your Nissan not to start. You really need a code from the computer. I know there is a lot of things to check but you need to start the elimination process. If gas checks out, move to timing belt, then distributor, cap, and rotor. Then sensors. The distributor on these cars seem to always go out. If you need anything else, just write me back. I am here to help you.

I have a 97 Honda Accord that stalls in warm/hot weather after it had been sitting in a parking lot for 6-8 hours in the afternoon; never in the morning and never in the evening. It usually starts right up...

there's a main relay or fuel pump relay located under the dash on driver's side. this relay goes bad all the times. it usually goes bad when you leave the car in a hot sun, next time keep your window down to see if it will start.

I smell gas fumes from underneath the car when I try to start it. i didn't start the car for 5 days with weather in the teens. is my gas line frozen. i've already tried putting a bottle of "Heet" and it...

sounds like you have a leaky gas line,...the fuel pump is in the gas tank, so when you turn the key on, the pump is activated and pressurizes the line,..... good to get it checked out on a lift,....good luck, cracklin joe

1995 Nissan Difficult to start in hot weather.

the reason it's starting after a few turns of the key is because when you're the ignition position, you're priming the engine to start. By priming it repeatedly, you're making it easier on the starter to catch when you finally try to turn the engine. I would first check the spark plugs and electrical wiring.

was it very cold if so the engine could flooded .The gas will wash the oil of the cylinder walls if flooded. try holding gas peddle to the floor wile trying to start.this cuts the fuel of to the engine.or your timing chain stretches hope this helps

1997 nissan sentra keeps dying

Check distributor and fuel, when car dies check for what is missing when it won't start back up. It can be only gas or spark and trust me one is missing. Good Luck
