It could be a loose or bad fuel filler cap. Make sure your filler cap is in place and tight.
It also could be the grade of fuel you are getting, sometimes just a different grade of fuel, or lesser quality of fuel can make it come on for a time and then go off.
You can disconnect your battery for up to 20 to 30 minutes to clear the codes and reset it.
If it comes back on after you do this, you need to have a diagnostic tool hooked up to it and have the codes read, and act accordingly.

I am buying a 1989 buick lesabre for $800 and just put $400 down yesterday and $400 next week too and i was driving the guy home to his ranch.he is a teacher i had last year and i gave him a ride back to his ranch and then i drove home.no problems there.i got home and was leaving to go show the car to my sister-in-law and i was at the bottom of my drive way and the car just dies.my dad gets it started and puts the car in drive and the car died again in the middle of the road which wae live on a busy road so i pushed it into the stores parking lot.he got it to start again and drove it to the gas station by our house and filled it up.then it started reight up and ran decent.well, lately,i had it checked out, found out that the front brake line has started to crack and that the brake pads are starting to wear down.the car has 119,685 miles or somewhere around that.the check engine light has been coming on and the car still runs though but then after a little while, the light for the check engine soon light goes off and the car remains to run.i was wondering on what could cause this to happen.thanks.

What is 'cadalis' code? ... catalytic converter efficiency below threshold? If so, it's not the O2 sensor. The converter is worn out if the code is catalytic converter efficiency. Sorry, expensive repair.

SOURCE: Check engine light comes on for several seconds on 1998 Subaru La

if you didnt have the issue with the check eng before then I would take it back for them to reinspect the job. And at least have then put a scanner on it to check why the light is coming on at idle.

Couple of things you should try. Check and tighten the screw that holds the engine cover. Cause maybe loosen screws only. Otherwise, change the gasket head cover. That should stop the leak.

Audia4t quattro-dies at stop signs and hard starting

Your first mistake is thinking that the only thing that can cause a misfire is a coil or spark plug. Misfires can be caused by MANY things, including faulty fuel injectors, injector control circuits, blown head gaskets, vacuum leaks, burned valves, broken valve springs, low compression due to cylinder damage, worn piston rings, damaged or worn camshafts, etc..

I would recommend getting this problem properly diagnosed by a professional. Failure to fix misfire codes promptly can cause severe engine damage and destroy high-dollar parts like oxygen Sensors, catalytic converters, engine blocks and cylinder heads.

Low oil pressure light comes on when i start my car and goes off, sometime it comes on while driving some time it goes off by it self and some time i have to press the middle button on dash board

if u have already checked and filled the oil to spec and the light is still coming on this is a problem you should have checked out asap it could be the oil pump going bad if so this will cause severe internal engine damage

You first have to find out what the OBD II codes are by using a OBD II hand held machine that goes through the codes and lets you know what is coming up. There are like over 20 or more things why the engine light came on so please use the OBD II code sensor hand held device which will tell you off the bat the answer to why the engine light came on. You can go to advance auto parts and have them check that out for you at no cost.

200k miles is a lot of miles. Is it smoking? If so, it could indicate a worn out engine. If the Check Engine light goes on, as a rule, I always recommend that the code be read to get a clue as to what is wrong.

I think you should resolve the problem before you go, if possible.
But, it's up to you.

Check Engine Light - 2000 Honda Accord

it could be that the air filter housing is worn and thats why they said you needed a new one what that means is that you are getting to much air into the engine and will cause check engine light to come on i would replace that and then see if it goes off and then if not go to a auto zone and they check the light and see what it is and then go from there

1999 dodge Durango. Check engine light comes on

maybe, fill battery cells with water if needed if not get a new one, if light continues to come on it could just be a small electrical short that will not affect your performance and you will probably never find the cause but i have had this occur in a couple cars i have owned even after taking it in to several mechanics to find the cause after spending hours of looking for myself if there's no code and no change in performance forget about it and put a smiley face sticker over it
