Plastic dip stick funnels are always snapping off.

Remove what you can see down to metal tube. With small hook on end of stiff wire, pull out inner plastic sleeve from tube.

If it won't come out...push it down so new funnel can be installed.

It can't hurt as the tube ends one eighth of an inch from the oil pan floor.

FYI. You need to cover top of new dip stick funnel with cloth and push home until you hear it click onto tube.

The plastic top broke off of my metal dipstick. How do I get it out? I tried needle nose and it didn't work. It's a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2. Someone please help this single woman out without having to...

Several ideas...use a very small hole adaptor end on a shop vac to get major suction and **** that dipstick out, ....or.....try to find a big magnet and see if that works to get it out....or....more messy..if you follow the tube that the dipstick is in..follow it down to where it goes into the engine...if you twist it, the whole tube and dipstick should come out, then replace it, and get a new dipstick from an auto wrecker...or from the dealer

Explorer Dipstick Tube Broke

There is a bracket that holds the tube to the block. There is no clips or retainers that hold it in the block. With the bracket loose you can twist and remove from the block. There is a oil ring on the end of the tube.
Sometimes the old tube is hard to remove...due to rust and corrosion. Spray the tube with a good penetrating oil before you start. Try to wiggle and twist the tube to brake it free....be careful, the tube is thin. If the tube breaks off flush with the block..the piece that in the block will need to get extracted out or remove the oil pan and remove it that way.

My engine oil dipstick missing

As far as I know this van never had a dipstick, did you break this off or are you just assuming that it is broken because the fill tube is there but no dipstick? If it is broken off then you will need to remove the pan off the bottom of the transmission to get it out

1999 Dakota 5.9 liter V8 dip stick handle broke off leaving the metal stck in the tube! Is the tube pressed in or soldered in place. Is there any danger in driving it?Stuck in the Rain Forest in Costa...

the tube has a metal tab at the bottom of the tuabe with a hole that holds the tube to the engine with a bolt-remove the bolt, the tube will slide out of the engine, then you can remove the broken dipstick. For now, you might try to cover the hole at the top of the tube with a rag that you shove into the tube, leaving enough to grab when you need to remove it.

All the transmission fluid leaked out from the fluid dipstick base. please help!

Hi! The dipstick tube has a bracket welded about 12 inches form the top, is fastened to the engine block by one bolt, it may be loose and caused the O ring at the base of the dipstick tube to rip or wear out. Remove the fastening bolt and pull the dipstick tube straight up, in case that is tight, twist it left and right but keep it straight while pulling it out. You'll se an O ring at the base, if it is not there, you'll see the groove where it used to be. Replace O ring and re-install dipstick tube and fastening bolt. The leak will stop.

Dip stick for the oil broke off and is stuck inside

SOMETIMES A SMALL POWERFUL MAGNET CAN BE USED TO EXTRACT THE STICK BUT REMOVAL OF THE OIL PAN IS ONE METHOD THAT ASSURES ALL REMNANTS OF THE DIPSTICK ARE REMOVED FROM THE OIL PAN. TRY FISHING THROUGH THE TUBE BEFORE RESORTING TO PULLING THE PAN. YOUR IMAGINATION IS A POWERFUL TOOL. BEST OF LUCK. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANK YOU FOR USING FIX-YA.

Oil dip stick broke off about 1 inch in shaft

You have to remove the oil dipstick tube.  Most are just pushed into the engine block with a o ring seal.  With some effort you should be able to pull it directly out.  Have you tried a bent coat hanger with a barbed end?
The procedure is easy the acessability may be the hard part.
