1997 lincoln town car with a 4.6 liter engine, shuts down when it gets hot...fuel pump/filter problem???

Had a similar problem with a Taurus. Was fuel pump. It's likely inside the tank, it's a pain to get replaced.

Check for clogged fuel filter or clogged fuel lines.

98 Buick Regal -engine quits

ok its one of two things you need to check when it cuts off if you have spark or fuel if you lose fuel pressure replace pump it gets hot and makes noise like its running but its not pumping fuel and if you lose spark you need to replace ignition control module has a hair line crack in it and when gets hot the crack expands and loses contact and wala no spark

I had the same problem, took to a benz dealer, it was the fuel pump relay, cost for repair $200.

Have 1996 GMC Sonoma 2.2L engine. Have just replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The engine intermittently shuts down. After it siots a while it starts right up

i had the same problem with my 96 sonoma, just died anywhere at anytime, even happened to shop mechanics. They checked fuel and spark, there was none. Ended up putting a new computer on it and it has not happened again. The computer was not communicating with anything, just be sure that you get new comp. programmed to your vehicle. Had to send mine out and get done
