Pretty sure it is in the line from the condenser to the evaporator . But where ?

    Thanks

  • WyrTwister Jul 16, 2008

I followed the liquid line from the evaporator , back towards the
condenser & quickly lost it it behind the power brake vacuum
booster . The line was cold , with the A/C running .

I followed the liquid line forward , from the high pressure
service port , towards the evaporator . I lost the line under the ABS
module / assembly .The line was warm .

The orifice tube had to be some where in between , under the other stuff .

I finally found a crude picture of this entire liquid line . I could see , in the picture , where the orifice tube was .

I bought a little round mirroe on a telescoping handel . With it
and a flashlight I finally could see the V orifice tube . It is
tucked away to the right of the vacuum brake booster ( looking straight
at the booster ) in the corner formed bu the fire wall , fender and
    wheel well .

It is going to be a huge pain to get to .

    Thanks ,

    Wyr

    Well .......

With everyone's help , I got the OT replaced .

It was full of metal cuttings . To the extent that I would not be
surprised if there is sufficient cuttings left in the system to stop it
    up again .

Not easy by any means . But not quite as bad as I feared .

Did not have to remove / loosen / break any brake lines .

The booster did not have enough room to remove it from the engine
compartment , but I had enough room to move it aside . That made enough
room to get to the 2 fittings .

Bought a new O-Ring to put on the fitting . Bout an 8 oz. can of
PAG 150 to lubricate that O-Ring and the 2 O-Rings that were on the OT
    .

It is not cooling as well as I would like , around 50 degrees . I
have read to expect 40 degrees ? About 95 degreed ambient and almost
100 degrees 2 inches in front of the condenser . Pressure higher than I
    would like . About 45 / 220 .

But it is COOLING ! Wifey is happier . :-)

    I think the O'Riley compressor has a 12 month warranty .

If it goes out again , I will be a little more experienced . ( Are the Chi-Com compressors any good ? )

Ended up using a 15/16" wrench and a Crescent . Bought a new set
of metric combination wrenches , but neither the 22mm or the 24mm would
    fit ?

    Thanks ,

    Wyr

Some are in the inlet to the evaporator and some could be in the condenser line. You can get a new orifice tube on autozone for $5 - 20

Sorry, I'll do more research and try for an exact location for you...

Go to https://www.mygmlink.com/main/US/en/gm/h..., register, and you can get free schematics for your vehicle directly from Buick. I looked for 2 hours. If you go to the above link, put your VIN and name, and it will automatically find your car, then you can view schematics and digital owners manual where you should be able to find the exact location on that orifice tube.

1993 buick century orifice tube

The orifice is located at the inlet tube to the evaporator core on the firewall, just suction the system out and remove the pressure line to the evap core, it is right there.

Where is the orfice filter on a 2000 buick century 3.0.

The a/c orifice tube is probably located at the firewall on the a/c piping that leads to the evaporator that sits behind the firewall and in front of the dashboard climate control.
