Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse

1 Answer

Sunroof won't open by itself. I have to push up on

The window while pushing the button back. That gives it the push it needs for the back rear of the window to go up. Also, when I push the button just to crack the sunroof, the back rear of the window does not go up where it should, so it seems to be something with pushing the back of the window up. I am selling this car and want everything to work, as it is in excellent condition. I just don't think I can tell a buyer to push on the sun roof window if you want it to open. Any suggestions? But, I also don't want to spend a fortune on fixing it unless I can recover the cost in the sale. Thanks for any help you can offer.

My sunroof won't open either. I checked the fuse box inside the car, I think it was fuse number #19 according to the car manual and all looked good. Recently my engine light came on a few times. One of my headlights went out and also one of my fog lights. Both lights have been fixed and I was told it was a wring problem. All my lights worked till now, now the light inside my gauge is out. All the other lights work, but since my gauge is out now it's hard drive at night and watch my speed in town.

I took the car to two different places, and was told the "Check Engine" light was no problem. The servicemen erased the codes and said don't worry about it.

The sunroof never worked correctly when I brought the car. But now the light in the dashboard is out? What do I need to check? I don't want to leave my car at the dealership out of town if i can avoid it.

If I can find the problem I can get in and out faster and or purchase the part needed ahead of time. Before going back to the dealership out of town. I must get my dashboard gauge lights back on soon as possible.

I have the same problem. The motor works fine, but it seems that the window catches on something that prevents it from opening. A quick push and it works fine.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION!! There's a seperate Tilt button and a seperate Open/Close button. Hold the Tilt buton up and the Open/Close button up at the same time WHILE THE CAR IS ON. And then turn your car off while still holding the buttons. Then turn your car back on and it should work like brand new again. This re-programs the sunroof.

If this workds for you please let me know thanks and GOOD LUCK!!!!

2001 mitsubishi eclipse sunroof wont open but i can hear the motor

Mine did the same thing...took me 8 years to figure it out without having to pay for a repair at a shop. When it lifts the centimeter on its own, push up on glass with your hand with moderate pressure till it frees up, then just push the button towards the rear of the car and it should open the sunroof completely! How i now have to open mine but its awesome after 8 years and Ill work with that...

My sunroof won't close

Some sunroofs have a open switch like the drivers window. You push it and the window will open automaticly. The button on your sunroof could be jammed so even though you can close it as soon as you release it, it will auto open on it's own.

The sunroof on my mini cooper s 2007 won't open when I push the button, but when I tap the window it will. What's causing it to stick?

The motor gear and the gear railings might be dirty and needs a new lubricant! Sometimes the alignment of the gear railings hampers the movement!

Driver side buttons for passenger windows doesn't work after changing battery.

when you change the battery you must reinitialize all the windows, sunroof and rear gate. you must operate each window from its own button, holding it to a count of 4 at the very bottom and very top. for the sunroof you must hold the button in the close position and let the roof go thru its complete cycle. the rear gate must be opened manually and closed by pushing close button on gate.

My sun roof doesn't work well

I would open the sunroof COMPLETELY , clean tracks , and lubricate tracks as far back as you can. Operate the roof back and forth a few times. This should help

BMW X 3 Panoramic sun roof initialization.

title says X5, but description says X3. i'll explain for an X5, but X3 with the pano should be the same. and i'll explain function of the roof, not reprogramming.

button is located on the panel at the top near the front & center windshield. its the switch on the far left on this panel. its a switch that not only toggles, but also slides forward & back.

with your finger in front of the button, slide it back & release. this will make the cover slide back and store revealing the sun roof. you know have 2 options (tilt the sunroof up or open the roof completely).

to tilt it up, press up on the rear of the button and release. the rear of both roofs will pop up. to close, push up and release the front of the button or slide the switch forward.

to slide it open completely, repeat what you did to open the protective cover (slide the switch from front to back). the roof will open completely and stow out of the way. to close, slide the switch forward and release. pano roof will now close.

to close the cover, slide the switch forward again.

neat trick: if you want to tilt the sunroof open without opening the protective cover, press up on the rear of the button (when the cover is closed) and release. the cover will separate in the middle exposing about a 2-3 inch mesh, then tilts the sunroof open. to close, push the button forward again.

also, if you are above a certain speed (can't remember what it is off hand) with the sunroof open or tilted, it will close automatically, then perform the neat trick on its own to keep air coming in.

one last trick: if you want to open the windows and sunroof from outside, press & hold the unlock button (forward button on the key) and you will see the windows go down, then the roof will open to vent. releasing the button will stop the motion of the windows & roof.

hope this answered what you were asking.

Make sure nobody plays with the car key after you lock it because if anybody push the unlocking button on your key remote it will unlock the car and if they push and hold it long enough it will open the windows and sunroof
