Question about 1999 Hyundai Accent
Sometimes (more and more) when I turn the key it sounds like it is going to start but does not turn over? Last time no luck at all. Any ideas?
We have had the same problem. Ours would sound like it would start but the engine sounded starved. We were told that the pump was working but that the pressure regulator needed to be changed we did that and the car still does not work. The battery is fine, brand new, and the engine doesn't clunk. I am finding that many accents are having this problem. My advice is not to take it in unless the problem will happen while it is at the shop. We have brought ours in and it will start for the shop and they will tell us there is not problem.

Does the engine just give a clunk when you turn the key or make no sound at all?
If it gives a clunk, most probably the contacts in the starter motor are burnt or you may have a bad connection on one or more of your heavy duty cables may have a loose or corroded connection.
