Cant find cooling bleeder valve on 2000 subaru outback

It is a black plastic unit with a small wire harness going to it. The unit is located on a heater hose close to the heater core near the firewall.

For the most part the answer is yes. There are some electrical parts that changed from year to year but the body and most mechanical parts are the same

If it has one,it will be at the bottom,engine side,could be in a super tight spot to get to,you can remove hose at bottom of radiator to empty radiator,will be a lot quicker.

Those valves sound like fuel pressure test ports. Press down the center of valve and see if gas comes out. If it does, those valves are on the fuel rail, not in the coolant system.
A bleed valve is a bit different. Looks kind of like a grease zerk, with a small hole on its little round head. You put a small wrench on the valve and turn it as if loosening it, but only a turn or two to open it and let coolant or air out the hole on the valve. Look for it on or just close to the thermostat housing.
If you have no bleed valve, best practice is to fill radiator and overflow tank, then start car with the radiator cap off, and let engine run until the thermostat opens (upper radiator hose will get hot when thermostat opens). Now turn off engine and replace radiator cap. This usually gets all the air from coolant system, but sometimes you have to do it again.

Take off valve cover an rotate top pulley for camshaft. Watch all your valves operate up and down. If they go through full motion up and down and you don't have any binding and everything looks straight as it goes through opening and closing while you are rotating shaft then you should be fine on the head.

all 5spd from legacy legacy gt outback will fit from 96-2002 they have same gear ratio you will have to change over mounts and speed sensor

Replace the cooling fan sensor.

Disconnect the wires going to the spring loaded switch in your hatchback.
