Focus is idling worse I told you it hick-ups when you start it for a half a minute it is smooth then it starts cutting out

You shouldn't be seeing any sparks at all..
When it is dark, open the hood/bonnet of your car and fire up the engine. If you can see any sparks/flashes it means that the electricity is leaking to earth. If so, there is a problem. This will cause a misfire/idling and running problems. Try cleaning and drying any area you see with sparks (with engine switched off..).

If power isn't jumping to earth the fault may lie elsewhere. There's a few other things that can cause the symptoms you describe, such as throttle position sensor, O2 sensor, MAP sensor..

It is all too easy to spend time and money replacing things one after the other only to find out that the fault is still there.

If you can't isolate and identify the fault yourself get somebody to test your vehicle with a diagnostics machine.

2000 GMC s10 4.3 v6 vortec wont start. Turns over but wont start please give all reasons why it wont. Ive replaced fuel filter, spark plugs are fine, fuel pump works,

Check spark at the spark plug by putting a screw driver up the cover hold it close to an earth and get some one to crank it over ,the spark should jump to earth.

96 aroura slow to start but once started runs fine turn off ingition restart with no problem so what cause the slow start up

I would like more information on your problem. If the engine turns over slowly at first and after starting swings over faster, you could have a battery on its way out. Have a battery specialist test it.
If the engine swings over fast but does not fire immediately you could have fouled spark plugs. When last did you replace them?
You could also have bad spark plug leads - they tend to rob the plugs of spark and this is only noticeable at start up. When the engine is warm it does not affect the spark enough for you to notice.

Nissan starting problems

Although I have never heard of a starter "swinging," I think you mean that it cranks the engine but the engine does not actually engage. Next step, check for adequate spark. If there is no spark, check your timing belt first (common problem as vehicles age). After that, check COIL PACK, and PLUG WIRES. Also, read out ODB codes from the engine to determine if there have been any sensor anomalies. Did you have a CHECK ENGINE light before the failure occurred?

1981 CJ7 cranks but wont start

You need fuel, air and a spark for your motor to run.First determine if you have a spark or fuel, this will half yourproblem,if there is no spark then its an ignition fault and if the plugs are not getting wet then its a fuel problem.Start from the plugs and work back keep me posted ok.Check for spark first just remove a plug and fit it on the lead hold the plus to earth[with an insulated pliers to prevent a shock]get a buddy to swing her over and observe for a spark at theplug contacts.

Electrical Problem - Ignition Switch?

Hi .
From what you have written it seems like when the glow plugs are activated the voltage drops to zilch.

I would check the battery terminal connections, the earth (ground) connections to the body / engine, and the wiring to the glow plugs. Those glow plugs draw around 60 Amps!

"When I tried to jump start the vehicle the car barely turned over" suggests a defective circuit to the started motor too. All in all I'd check everything above, but especially the earthing, which is a common factor in all of your symptoms. The battery may well be fine.

If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills. If they do not, please add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D
