Question about 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX
I have a 1996 Ford Thunderbird V8......Ok so Ive been having issues with my Tbird...It was driving fine all morning long went to the gym went home purred like a kitten.....got on the Highway and is started off fine then all of a sudded....it just started to slow down like i was running out of gas..I have half a tank..and for some reason the car was slowing down to a crawl.I think there is something wrong with my fuel system..I recently replaced the spark plugs and the distributor wires.I had my foot all the way down on the pedal and it maxed out at 10mph...I though that it was a heating problem and that my car over heated...I took out the thermostat and it was almost brand new...The radiator was good fan turned on...car turnes on...it takes a couple of trys but it turns on...but for some reason..everytime I press the gas pedal it reves up to about 2 RPM then it drops and almost turns off completely. I recently spoke to auto zone and they said something about a valve or compressor that is located just off of my OHC to the right it looks like a flying saucer..can someone please give me some insight thanks!! IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Same problem the mass airflow senor did seem to fix the problem but i started going through them one every 2 years. try this ...
disconnect your battery for a minute then connect it back and see if it clear the problem (sound crazy but try it. this is perrsonal experience talking. if it fixed the problem, this is what is going out next, your Computer. you also might have a problem with your anti thief system, check relay near the emergency brake make sure it is connected.
I'M not a mechanic, just sharing my 7 years of experience with my thunderbird. ANYBODY WANT TO BUY A THUNDERBIRD? (-:

take your machine for free diagnostic test down at autozone and they will tell you the problem to me its sounds like the MAS (mass airflow sensor)
