Does 2001 Kia Sportage needs wires for a tune up?

The ignition wires break down over time to to the high voltage they carry as well as underhood engine temperatures. It is a good idea to replace them during spark plug change to avoid any chance of misfires

I got lancer ck2 model 1999 year I start the car bt its nt possible.i hv new battery everything bt still cnt start whts wrong help

When you turn the contact key; do you hear the pump humming? Do you have power going to the ignition coil? Is the power going to the spark plug? (unscrew one, lay it on the engine connected to its wire, check for a spark when activating the starter.)

My car lacks power bt wen i take out da air flow it gains power bt start jurking after a while.what could da problem be?

You could have a bad spark plug. May just need plugs and wires but be sure to gap the plugs. If the check engine light is on have the codes checked if it's using a lot of gas it could be he oxygen sensor.

Anyone have picture/illustration of where the spark plug are located on a 2005 highlander?

  1. 1 Pull the hood release and raise the hood on the Highlander. Allow the engine plenty of time to cool.
  2. 2 Remove some components to reach the spark plugs. On a 3.3 liter engine, unscrew and remove the V-bank cover and intake air tank. On a 2.4 and 3.0 liter engine, remove the number one engine cover.
  3. 3 Locate the ignition coils and spark plug wires that connect directly to the spark plugs or directly to the engine in the Toyota Highlander. In 2001 and 2002 models, theses are on the front and back of the engine. On models made after 2002, the spark plugs are along the sides. Grab the ignition coils or spark plug wires by the thick plastic piece at the end of the wire. Squeeze the end and turn it to release it from the spark plug. Pull back to remove the plug from the engine.
  4. 4 Slide the spark plug socket over the spark plug. The most common size of spark plug socket used on a Toyota Highlander is 16mm. Turn the socket to the left to unscrew and remove the spark plug from the cylinder well.
  5. 5 Apply a thin coat of anti-seize compound to the spark plug thread and into the wire boot to reduce the chance of sticking.
  6. 6 Insert the spark plug into the well and manually turn the plug into place. If you cannot reach the plug well manually, insert the plug into the socket and extension and use the extension to turn the plug into place. Do not use a socket wrench or flexible extension for this process because their force damages the spark plug.
  7. 7 Connect the ignition coil or spark plug wire to the spark plug. Turn to lock it into place.
  8. 8 Continue this process for the rest of the spark plugs. Replace any removed items onto the engine and lower the hood.

Car was starting and running now and then battery is fine it getting gas has orange spark on plugs bt wont start?

The spark at the plugs should be almost white hot or blue. An orange spark is very weak and may not be enough to ignite the fuel mixture when subjected to the pressures inside the compression chamber. It would not hurt to do a thorough tune up with new spark plugs, wires and ignition control module. If your engine has a distributor, replace the cap and rotor.

How do you replace the spark plugs on a 1998 2.7 Intrepid?

Always remove the ignition coil assembly by grasping at the spark plug boot, turning the assembly 1/2 turn and pulling straight back in a steady motion.
  • Prior to removing the spark plug, spray compressed air around the coil area and spark plug.
  • Remove electrical connector from ignition coil.
On 3.5L engines, it is necessary to loosen the screws by alternating back and forth. Do not lose the spacers under the coil when loosening the screws.
  • Remove 2 fasteners from ignition coil.
  • Remove ignition coil assembly.
  • Remove the spark plug using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert.
  • Inspect the spark plug condition.
Always remove the ignition coil assembly by grasping at the spark plug boot, turning the assembly 1/2 turn and pulling straight back in a steady motion.
  • To avoid cross threading, start the spark plug into the cylinder head by hand.
  • 3.5L engines tighten spark plugs to 28 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque, 2.7L engine tighten spark plugs to 17.6 N·m (13 ft. lbs.).
  • Install ignition coil assembly onto spark plug.
  • Install coil screws and tighten: 2.7L engine to 6.2 N·m (55 in. lbs.), 3.5L engines to 6.7 N·m (60 in. lbs.).

Engine rotates bt wont start

Remove the air cleaner and try spraying in starter fluid and cranking it. If it starts its a gas flow issue. You can also check for spark to see if it is an electrical issue. There's a lot of reasons that it might not start but this should point you in the right direction and give us some clues to work with. Good luck!

Cant find the spark plug location on 2002 4cyl tacoma

Locate the spark plug cover on the engine. On some Toyota Tacoma engines, the cover is across the top of the engine. On others, it is along the side 4 cyl. Remove the cover to reveal the ignition coils and spark plugs wires. The spark plug wires are plugged directly into the engine and the ignition coils are in the tip of the spark plug wire.
Remove the coil and wire from the spark plug. Twist and pull the plug out of the engine. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder well with a socket extender and socket wrench. Turn the wrench to the left to unscrew the spark plug from the engine.

Discard the old spark plug and apply a coat of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug.

Insert the new spark plug into the socket. Use the socket and extension to screw the spark plug into place.

Return the ignition coils and spark plug wires to the engine and turn it to lock the plug in place. Repeat the entire the process with the remaining spark plugs.

Replace the spark plug cover when all of the spark plugs are replaced.

Good luck and hope this helps and The spark plug tension may range between 11 and 15 foot pounds, depending on the size of the spark plug. The correct tension is indicated on the spark plug's packaging.
