Question about 2001 Hyundai XG300

Acceleration evertime im driving the car the aceleration seem to have a problem the car would just slow down and sometime it wouldn't go over 40 mph on the highway

    its idling at 2000rpm default and has no throttle response

    Driving on the highway stopped, resumed trip however car will not accelerate above 25 mph.

I belive this to be a tps. On a xg300 it would rev up but not accelerate. try turning the car off and restart in. best of luck.

This engine has a surge; AT 35-45mph,it's a bit more prounounced, not as bad, but still there at 60mph. As the tach goes up some, then down, so does the motor, up then back down, etc.Any ideas?

Why does it struggle to accelerate beyond 40 mph?


Does it do it hot or cold or both ? Does it skip or miss or buck ?

Its gets to about 40 mph and i can let off the gas and it will continue to accelerate


It may be your power booster. I had a car that did that and it was the power booster went bad. I hope this helps.

Sounds like a belt slipping. Check the tension and wear on your belts.Seems like it's always the alternator belt, so check that first. If the belts are fine it may be your fan clutch.

Maybe check for loose u-joints, transmission mount, or carrier bearing if you have a two piece driveshaft.

it sounds like your transmission is slipping check fluid level and look into a service. if not that you might have a bad trans

Time for a little tranny work, maybe. How old IS that fluid? It's possible that it's time to replace or at least adjust the innards to get it up to snuff again. When you have the speed problem, does it seem that it is in low gear?
