My driver's side speaker began cutting out. Occasionally would suddenly return when I increased the volume abnormally. Sometimes it would be OK when I first started the car; then would cut out. Some time ago, it cut out & hasn't returned, no matter what I do. This is a '98 Ford Contour with 53,000 miles. The problem started many miles ago (I know, the mileage has nothing to do with it).

The door buzzer chime is on the fuse box cover over the clutch/brake pedal. Trust me, you will enjoy not having it, i removed mine. As far as the radio...on my contour, there is a inline dash amplifier beneath the dash. If you have an aftermarket radio, i would pull the radio out and check the connections. A Haynes Manual #36006 has proven to be very useful with the wiring schematics. Good luck..98contourSVT

Just bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited 85000 miles, think the seller has rolled back the mileages, checked the compression all across equal 120psi. Please advise. Thanks

dealers work out average usage at so many miles a month to check if the speedo has been tampered with
a 12 year old car would have 149129 miles on the clock so to be generous 100000 miles or if used as a sales car 200000 miles is the ball park figure
the figure of 85000 miles equals 7000 a year well be,ow the 12000 the average car owner would put on the clock
the compression pressure should be about 40 psi higher to be a good motor
not much you can do about the speedo without proof but if it runs well and is in good condition, save your money until it starts to fade and put in a fully reconditioned exchange engine

2007 hyundai accent humming front end tire

Same with my 07 Accent. bought new in 07, noise started last spring 2013 at 63,000 miles, a year later at 97,000 getting louder but still rolling along, high speeds and pulling a trailer some of the time. Cannot believe a bad bearing would last that long.

I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier. A couple of months ago, just after starting the car one day, the 'check engine' and 'trac off' lights both came on. I immediately shut off the car, waited approximately 5...

Many cars have the cooling fan on a thermostat or time delay, to allow it to run for a short period of time after the engine turns off, to cool the engine off. You may have just never noticed it before. So I wouldn't worry about that.
Your real problem is the blowing fuses, apparently you have a short somewhere in your wiring. Putting in bigger and bigger fuses is a great way to set fire to your wiring harness. It's possible that the wire is pinched or chafed somewhere, and perhaps when you hit a bump just right, it touches and shorts.
You may have to take this to the Chevy dealer or a GOOD independent shop to have them chase it down. Unless someone out there knows exactly what this is, it could be a tough one to find.

I feel slight j*rk while accelerating, is it normal?

If you have a warranty then take it to a transmission shop. There is no way anyone here could with certainty say the sound is normal or not. We would be guessing. If you wait the 6 months and it takes a dump your really going to be *******st.

Suspension system 2003 X Type

That all depends on if you have the comfort or the sport suspension. The sport is a bit stiffer, and the comfort is pretty floaty. Now, repair shops will tell you that you need to replace the shocks every 50,000 miles, however they should be good for at least 100,000 miles. But, how to tell. There are 3 items to check- how much "dive" does your front end have when you brake? If it is significant, then you might be due. The opposite is true when accelerating off the line. Finally, push down on the front and back end with your hands, and if it bounces straight up, then you should still be good on your shocks.

If you have rattles from the shocks, either the mounts or the shocks themselves might be bad. You want to replace the shocks in either case.

Note, that replacing the shocks on the X Type is extremely expensive.
