Question about 1996 Ford Explorer

96 Ford Explorer AC problem

I have a 96 Ford Explorer that only produces cold air on the MAX AC setting. On all of the other vent settings the air is hot. Because I get cold air on the max setting I don't think I need a AC charge. I think I have tried everything else the vent doors seem to be shifting w/o problem. I do not get any outside vent air if that helps. Help!

I have a 96 Explorer with the exact same problem. I did add freon to the system with no change. Has anybody else seen this and how do we correct it?

Change your Heater Control Valve. I've seen a quite a few of them do this and it's almost always the valve

1997 ford explorer xlt. max ac works fine but when i switch to normal ac or change vent control it blows out heated air. How do i check or repair?

The blend door actuator is probably bad in it causing the warm air to blow out instead of cold air. It is behind the dash.

It may take several hours for a technician to get at it and replace the parts required for it to work again.

look under your hood for any vaccuum leaks. check all rubber hoses under the hood. they should be roughly the size of your pinky.

A/c cold on onside not the other.

sounds like a cracked vacuum line... or a bad vacuum control box getting the settings confused check there first.. (hot air from outside is being forced in on the one side because one vent is open, cold on other then when on normal when both outside vents should be open 2 arent and one is)

Check the vacuum hose going to the heater control valve,it may have popped off. If that is on. check the vacuum hose going to your recirculation door under the right side of your dash. I hope this helps.

Temperature Control not working on 1999 Ford Explorer

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.
