Always go by the reading on your dipstick !!! this is probably a bad low oil sensor, i know warning lights can be irritating but if the dipstick says full DONT add more

if the alternator is working and the battery just will not take/hold a charge just replace the battery! you need to post the steps you have already taken so we know more about the problem.
I would check to see if you have a level sensor at the bottom of oil pan. If not, there is an oil sensor that plugs into the block that can send a signal to guage also. Both are fairly common.
VW are bad about moisture getting within the coil and other components that fire the engine. It should still start even with a bad plug or wire, it would run like ****, so it makes me think the coil isn't firing through the plug wires. Get the coil checked out. Hopefully the fuel pump hasn't went out.
