Hard starting 1997 F-250 5.8 liter fuel injected. Hard starting first thing in the morning, on gas either tank. New fuel filter about 8000 ago.

Since these don't get run all the time and gas usually sets in them. You'll probably have to pull the injectors and have them cleaned. I would also drain the gas in the tank and start with fresh gas new fuel filter. It is always best to drain the tank and run the engine till it dies, if you know it is going to set for along time. Like winter time.

!.The car will jerk when you accelerate, especially if your fuel filter has been blocked due to accumulated waste in it. but you would lack power always.
cuz it's fuel injected very well might be a bad throttle position sensor. TPS for short.
one or the other is my belief. will take awhile for the tps to throw a hard code. so i'm betting on that. ck rockauto for price of the unit i don't think it'll break the bank.

The problem of your car is that the fuel system/electrical system is malfunctioning. You mmust make the mechanic draing the gas from the tank, clean the tank, change the fuel filter, service the fuel injection system if it has it and if it is caburetor system service the carburretor, change the spark plugs and the air filter element.

Have you ever put in the gasoline tank any fuel injector cleaner yet because your injectors which injects the fuel of gasoline, if the injectors are not injecting enough fuel into the piston chambers that the fuel injectors needs to be clean to allow enough fuel to come in so go buy injector cleaner at autozone and put the whole thing into the gasoline tank and then drive. Your fuel injectors are clogged or going serious bad on you so you might have to replace them as well but first try to put fuel injector cleaner and see.

posably a pluged return filter or pluged vent
check return lines and vent lines
if you off road check filter box for water it might be full

Even a small amount of bad gas can cause your problem.
So the first thing you need to do is remove your fuel tank so you can drain all of the old fuel out,then remove the fuel sending unit and fuel pump assembly thats in your fuel tank and clean the filter screen, after that you can reinstall the fuel tank,replace your fuel filter and I would have a fuel injector sevice done.
Unless you are very skilled in automotive repair, leave this one to a pro.

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

i had similar problem. hard to start in morning but once started, would start everytime until next morning. i changed fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap, rotor, pickup coil, battery. i was finally told the '96 had a recall on the fuel injection assemby. i changed that out with the new mpf system and it solved the problem. runs like a striped ape. hope this helps.

yea most american made cars have the fuel pump in the tank.....just drop the tank and replace....not that hard to do but you will need a helping hand...not something id attempt on my own......did you check the fuel pump relay and fuse.....that could be i too....try that first its cheaper....hope this helps :)

A few things things immediately come to mind.

There may be a problem with the engine controller. You could check the ODBII onboard diagnostics. Auto part stores will usually do this for you at no cost.

When you pulled the ones that were/went bad, how did the filters look? Could there be particulate matter still in the tank causing them to fail.

I always put this one off until last. Check the injectors. Are they gummed up?
