Try looking under the Air Filter intake box under the hood driver side. You will probably have to take the box out to get to the Plug. There is a Plug there that corrodes and the wires break off.

You have a timing chain that is good for the life of the engine. The only thing that could need replacing is the chain tensioner if it starts to make noise.

My 1996 jeep cherokee headlamps turn off and on on 5 second intervals. what could be the solution

I'm going to post this in the clarification section. I don't have a wiring diagram for a 96 Grand Cherokee headlight circuit.
The 95 models used a circuit breaker built-into the headlight switch. The 97 models used a fuse in the fuse box. If your model uses the headlight circuit breaker, a short in one of the headlights or the wiring harness would trip the circuit breaker in the switch. You could unplug one headlight at a time to see if it continues to go on and off.

Control switches on steering wheel do not light up at night

I don't believe they are lighted. I am 95% confident the criuse buttons don't light up. Did you just get this Jeep or am I wrong and they worked before? I really don't think there is anything wrong with your Jeep.

How can i clean my idle control valve on my 1997 jeep cheerokee

Just remove it and clean the carbon off. Carb clean and a brush. Don't pull on the pintle though as sometimes they are adjustable and it could extend it too much if you do.

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8. It started as a great running little SUV for me but has recently become the most problematic vehicle I have ever owned. With a new fully charged battery it will start...

Sounds like you covered everything electrically. Did you check the belt to see if it is tight enough. It's been a while since I've worked on a 95, if it has an auto belt tensioner. it could be weak, not turning the alternator fast enough under a load. This can happen and the belt not squeak.

  3. Install a new bulb and position the bulb assembly in the lamp housing.
  4. Rotate the lock ring 1?8 turn clockwise to secure.

The Grand Cherokee will have an assembly that is fastened with bolts and screws to the body.

DID ALL 94 GRAND CHEEROKEES (INLINE 6) COME WITH AN AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION COOLER? MINE HAS ONE AND I HAVE NEVER USED THE JEEP FOR TOWING. I HAVE A LEAK IN THE AUX COOLER AND AM CONSIDERING BY-PASSING IT...

you probably need to talk to the parts department at jeep to see if it came in another version. if the hoses for the auxillary cooler go into and out of the radiator you will still have a radiator cooler for light duty use.if not the other model probably had a different radiator.but do not run with no cooler it will cost a lot more to repair the transmission the the oil cooler.
