How to get the battery out

The battery in the 2003 Pontiac Montana is located in the engine compartment on the passenger's side just behind the headlight assembly. Changing the battery can be a little challenging because the Pontiac saw fit to bury it below several other parts in the van. The under-hood fuse box sits directly above the battery and a cross brace runs over the top of it as well. Dealing with both items is not complicated but does add time to the process. Abs light is off and abs kicks in under normal braking then light comes on and brakes are normal. 2002 pontiac montana

there are abs sensors mounted to the braking system on the wheels, one of them is shorting out, to verify, remove the abs fuse from the fuse box under the hood, test drive the vehicle, it should run fine without the abs system. have these sensors cleaned or replaced.

Cigareete lighter fuse 2005 Montans SV6 where is it

To access fuse panel you are looking for that holds the lighter fuse open the passenger door and look on the right end of the instrument panel (dash) There is an access panel that just pulls off. Pull it off and there are your fuses.

How do i change the battery on my 2000 pontiac Montana? Iv gotten it down to the fuse box needs to be taken out and then the battery needs to be unplugged. How do i take out the fuse box and how do i...

Remove the brace, there are 3 bolts, then slide the brace out thrugh the fuse box. Remove the bolt that holds the fuse box onto the frame and lift it over and out of the way. Remove the battery hold down bolt, and unhook the battery cables. lift out the battery through the wiring harnesses that remain.

Location of the negative terminal on the battery of a 2004 montana

To get to the battery is not hard but it requires removing a few items. I just did this last night.
First remove the black plastic cover from the wiper mechanism. This just slips off. No tools required for this item. This cover is located as you stand in front of vehicle with hood raised on the same side as the battery. It is a long triangle shaped piece.
Second remove bolt that holds the electrical fuses that sit on
top of the battery. It is just one screw that holds this. It is located just below, toward the headlight. It bolts to the body of the vehicle.
Third remove the cross brace. This is the black pipe looking object going diagonal across the top of the battery that connects to the body of the vehicle. There are two bolts in front and one larger bolt in rear. To get to the rear bolt is the reason for removing the wiper mechanism's cover.
Now you should be able to slide the cross brace out of the clips for the electrical fuse box. Now you can just move the fuse box
out of the way and now you see the negative terminal of the battery.
Lot of work just to get to the battery!!
Hope this helps.

None of the dash gauges are working on 2004 montana van,why ? tach, speedo, gas gauges not working

Check you fuses, chances are the fuse has gone bad and will need to be replaced. You have a fuse panel under the hood by the battery and another fuse panel on the passenger side of the dash at the end, just pull the fuse panel off and you'll see the fuses.
Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

2004 Pontiac Montana...my power locks, windows and interior lights all went out at the same time. I checked the fuses...it isn't those. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Just to make sure, you did check the fuses at the end of the dash on the passenger side too as to the one under the hood in the engine compartment. If the fuses on both fuse distribution box are good, then your may have a bad body control module.
Good luck and thank you for using fixya.
