Where is the body control module on a 2005 saturn ion located and do you have to reset the computer after replacing it.

You can't just replace it because it need programming for that car. It have to be programmed with the VIN Number and the mileage. There are very few reasons that you would ever change an ECU. The number is on a paper sticker on the outside.

Right side front of the center console . Plastic panel pulls off !

There is no relay , the BCM - body control module controls the lights !

pull off the passenger side access panel on the center console

I can not find specifically where is is located in an Ion, but the airbag control module is located under the driver's seat in many types of cars and trucks.

The motor an EPS - electric power steering module have to be replaced together . The module needs to be programmed , Dealer ! Could be a steering angle sensor also . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's stored .
The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.

Your best bet , let a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic skill's to find the problem !

Bcm and fuse box are one piece, located in front of center console, just under the heater controls.  Remove side panels from console on both sides.

remove electronic power steering (EPS) motor. remove the 4 bolts that hold on the motor housing. remove the housing. using a tooth brush, clean out the 'brush' dust from between the commutators. don't use cleaner spray as you might degrease the bearings. don't use anything metal to clean out the dust you might scratch or nick the commutators.

this solution has worked for over 500 miles for me. I'll keep you posted.
