1992 Achieva 2.3 L Quad 4 won't start

My wife came home from work. Car was running fine. She goes to leave a few hours later, car won't start. Battery is good and strong. When I turn the key I have all the lights I should, and the car cranks and cranks, just won't fire. I have fuel, have tested the coil packs, coil pack cover, plugs and plug wires (if that's what you want to call them) Everywhere I've checked says they can't check my particular ignition module, something about the leads so it's going to take them a couple weeks to get them. I also tried to do some testing of the module. It has three pins in the back side and I believe 7 or 8 in the front. One pin of the small connector is giving me readins for three of the other pins when I was checking resistance and continuity. I also tested my crankcase positioning sensor. My old one only read about 550 Ohms, the new one, after it was installed and tried to start the car reads about 650 Ohms. Can anyone think of anything that I haven't. car was running fine. next time i went to use it the car would not start. the engine turned over but seemed not to be getting gas. also noticed that the warning lights on the panel were not comming on. took it to a mechanic by tow truck. when i got it there it stated! drove it home . next day it would not start

If the battery is good and strong, then the problem rely in the other ignition parts, you must check the coil ,the starter, the crankshaft sensor ,the spark plugs and the distributor cap.Check there connection if tight and conductivity, not loose.

Check you fusible links on the starter. If you have one fraying, your getting a bad connection (obviously) and the ECM will not get the power to it. Hope this helps.

I drove to work fine got back in 4 hours later car won't start battery dead. then got a jump came home turn car off now car wont start.

If you just hear a click, try this:
This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

My car has been running fine. Starts each morning once to drive kids to school. An hour later for me to drive to work. But for the last two mornings won't start back up after working 4 hours. I noticed...

Sounds like the alternator is going out the slow way.
Youre kinda lucky because almoat all alternators go out without warning.
Most Autozone shops or places like it will run a test for free.
Good luck,Gary

The car is a 1992 cadillac deville you can drive the car fine but when you go home and don't drive the car for a few days the battery goes dead and you haft to charge the battery and then the car works...

It doesn't have a short. Shorts blow fuses. It has high parasitic drain. On a cad it might be hard to find but not impossible. Do you own an ammeter?

Car runs fine till it is turned off

two things come to mind....
1- a electrical component may be heat sensitive and not function after turn off heat soak
2- your fuel pump check valve isn't holding fuel pressure in the fuel loop
Next time check for spark...if thers's spark it's a fuel problem
