My 1994 Nissan Altima started shaking really bad. I gave it a basic tune up. I replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor and gave it an oil change. I left the car running and checked to see if there was a misfire. I pulled up each spark plug wire one by one and when I pulled them up 3 out of 4 of them wanted to "die out" which is suppose to happen. So whats going on with the one that didn't want to "die out". Aamco wanted to charge me to much to just check to see what the problem was.

A bad injector? sometimes it is cheaper in the long run to have it diagnosed and repaired then to guess and just replace parts....

Just did tune-up on 2000 altima changed plugs wires distributor cap and rotor air filter changed oil and filter car started like a top drove 10 miles shut car off now won't start.

Really need more info here. Does the engine turn over? If so check all your connections again. Also check plug and coil wires and distributor cap. If engine won't turn over it's probably the battery.

Installed new engine now wont fire from distributor to spark plugs.

If you've got spark from the coil but not at the spark plugs, it can only be 1 of 3 things.
  • Bad spark plugs or plugs not gapped properly.
  • Bad spark plug wires.
  • Bad distributor cap and rotor. This is pretty easy to check. Open up the cap and look at the points on the underside of the cap and also the point on the rotor. If they look corroded or worn, then you should replace them.

Good Luck!

What are all of the parts needed for a tuneup for my 95 quests

Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. If you replace all of these you would be doing what is called a major tune-up.

A regular tune-up would be just replacing the spark plugs.

You can check the integrity of the plug wires and distributor cap by spraying them with water while the engine is running. If the engine runs ruff, stall, or you see spark arcing from either the wires or the distributor cap than they will need to be replaced.

The distributor rotor always gets replaced when you replace the distributor cap.

You can also spray the coil with soapy water to see if it is leaking as well.

I have intermittent rough idle on my 2003 nissan altima. car shakes in gear at stop, mostly fine in neutral.

Replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Next, check the idle air control valve and replace it if found faulty. If it still shakes, have the timing checked out

Tune up nissan altima 2.5L model 2002

All you really need is a good set of spark plugs, this car has coil packs so no plug wires distributor caps etc.....Just remove the coil packs and install your plugs and your done. Good luck.
